Thorntons been getting alot of publicity, other than that it would be generic industries such as bankings not doing too well.

I've heard HMV's on it's behind at the moment. Economic climate and new ways to get music/films etc.

TJ Hughes has just closed a large number of stores, think it might be in administration.

WHSmiths is struggling too I think, but it has been for a few years.

EDIT: Above - Is Thorntons not just closing stores and supplying to supermarkets/larger chains?

Any company that relies on discretionary spending will be struggling. The exception are global companies that sell luxury goods and services to the most wealthy.
