Maths Standard Grade questions..again, sorry ! watch

    Sorry, i need help with a couple of maths questions, need practice for a test tomorrow, so need help with this asap.

    3x + 1 = x-5/2 (The whole x-5 is over 2)



    And Expand and Simplify - (3x+1)(x^2-5x+4)

    For the first one, multiply both sides by 2, to get 6x-2 = x-5, then you should be able to solve for x.

    For the second one, either factorise the quadratic and multiply out, or just straight multiply. Although I would say its a weird question, requiring you to expand when you could just factorise x^2-5x+4..hmm

    Thank you very much, i understand the first one, but i do not understand the second one sorry.
