    I'll just dive straight in.

I'm 6'1 and I have an inseam of about 33/34". I'm not really sure how this is in terms of proportion but I was speaking to one of my mates today who is 5'6 and he said that he had an inseam of around 31"

Considering he is what 5 inches shorter than me how does this work? Is that inseam short for my height?

What is your height and length of body parts?

I understand I am probably some freakish mutation

Your OH sounds similar to me, I'm an inch taller and my inseam is an inch longer

    Interesting

I'm the same, i'm just under 6'1 and am 34". It's quite common, 34" is usually always the "long" inseam for most trousers etc.

So it's fair to say that's normal and most have longer torsos?

Well I definitely wouldn't call it abnormal so i'd say yes it is.
It can depend on the person really, I have a longer lower body than torso but of course it would be just as normal to have a long torso aswell!

because every single female worldwide stops developing vertically as soon as they celebrate their 19th birthday, don't they.
