Myself and 9 others are taking part in a competition, we are all 16 and the aim of the competition is to set up a business and make money, we are all 16/17. We have raised £500 (through bake sales etc) and we are going to a trade fair in december, I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas of what products we could sell that would make a healthy profit? so far we have come up with soap/candles/xmas cards etc but nothing is finalised and we are running out of ideas that we think will work.

any help with be gratefully received

just wondering what sort of products people would buy from a group of 16 year olds and what they will pay, and what we could offer that couldnt be bought cheaper elsewhere.

also something i didnt mention is most of the profits go towards a charity so any ideas will not line my pockets

speaking as someone on the other side i.e. a consumer, I fear that you may find many people skeptical or reluctant to buy anything because they don't know if they can take teenagers trying to sell something seriously. However if you are well organized, and present your product professionally, then you will, of course, have a better chance at the trade fair.

Honestly I can really only think of electronics as being something that is in high demand these days. (ipads, e-readers, mobile phones, etc.) Though for that you need partnership with the major electronics companies to get the best stuff. I will keep on thinking though, and maybe in the mean time others will chime in with some good advice.

Thanks thats very helpful, we are quite concerned about how we will present ourselves so that people will feel they can trust us, as I understand that many people may view teenagers with some mistrust.
