# How to find limiting reagent? watch

1. I was absent for the last lecture, which was on limiting reactants. Now I've got this pre-lab due and I'm struggling to figure it out. I know I've got to set up some sort of ratio and compare it with the stoichiometric ratio, but that's as far as I can get. Here's the problem:

Determine the limiting reagent in the following reaction if 6 mL of 1 M sodium hydroxide is added to 4 mL of 1 M copper sulfate.

2NaOH(aq) + CuSO4(aq) --> Cu(OH)2(s)

Any help would be much appreciated

You calculate the number of moles of each reagent and then use the stoichiometry of the reaction to see which gets used up first.

That one is the limiting reagent that you have to use to find out the moles of products formed.
