The right time is whenever you feel comfortable to engage in such activities with sombody you can trust. Everybody is different so that age will be different from person to person, the average age doesn't mean that you should do it at that age, everybody matures emotionally at different times and stages.
I'm pretty sure that the average age is higher than 17.
Infact nearly positive!
Prove it then! It's more likely to be lower actually, if we're concerned with teenagers anyway.
You'd need to rely on annual statistics - and I don't know where you'd find that kind of information. I heard the average age was 17 a few years back though.
I heard that the average age was 17 on some radio ad trying to get young people to wait for longer...but in an article about the terrible sex education in schools (which was more recent), it said it was 14! So I guess it's difficult to know. I worried about losing my virginity between the ages of 15 and 18, and now that I'm 19 I've realised how many more people are vigins at my age and older than I first thought. So it's really nothing to sweat about!
I really cannot believe that the national average for girls to lose their virginity is 14. I'd say 17 is more or less right, and that's what I've read.
Who cares what's "average" though? (provided of course that you're legal and safe).
There was a poll here once and the average age was 17 I think.
It doesnt matter though. Theres too much pressure from peers and the media and people are obsessed with it. To me its a personal, private thing that should be special to you.
