Is it worth running for the Scottish Youth Parliament? My parents have suggested it to me, but I have heard some bad things about it (see here: http://www.deadlinenews.co.uk//2010/...chairman-2860/ ). Does anyone have any experience with it?

    Hi Holly,

In short, my answer is yes! The story you posted is years out of date and highly inaccurate. The SYP is an excellent way to represent the young people of your area, whilst developing your public speaking, networking and facilitating skills! We are well respected by the public and decision-makers alike - our recent Love Equally campaign asking the Scottish Government to bring forward their consultation on same sex marriage was successful after only a number of weeks!

Unfortunately you'll need to wait until 2013 to stand for election, as MSYPs are elected for 2 year terms and the last election was this year.

If you have any more questions, don't be afraid to ask!

Thank you! May I ask, what's your relationship with the SYP?
