In an emergency, somewhere like Maplin or PC World will probably be your best bet.

Would def be the cheapest though. You can get stupidly long ones for pennies. I'd wait till you get there and get it sent there if I were you.

    Amazon.

Get it sent to your new adress. Simple.

I got a 10 metre one on Amazon for like £2.

Buy a crimping tool, a couple of bags of RJ45 plugs and boots, and a box of cat5. Should cost you about £60.

    Learn to make your own.

Locate other people in halls that do not have cables.

    Profit.

Yea, waiting is your best bet. Because of how cheap it is to produce cables of varying length there are plenty of sellers which sell cables for dirt cheap on places like play.com/amazon marketplace or ebay.

Or he could buy a 10m for under £2?

I doubt he will make a profit.

    Why not? He needed one.

Why go out and buy one if there is someone in halls selling them - and to custom length to boot?

You'd struggle to make a profit, unless the people in his halls are clueless they'll find one on Amazon for 81p.

Most students are clueless. Not to mention lazy.

The existence of this thread is surely evidence of that.
