Guys, could you recommend me a university for Biochemistry. Struggling to find one more - the last. I already chose Edinburgh, St.Andrews, York, Sheffield. Thanks.

Manchester is good, the open day was immense! Totally won me over! They can offer you between AAA-ABB depending on what your predicted grades and personal statement is like

I've applied to York, Liecester, Sheffield, Nottingham and Reading.
I got ABBB at AS. I'm resitting chemistry to try and push the B up to an A.
Predicted AAB at A-Level.

And now to play the waiting game...
Are you in UK have an opportunity to resit exam? :O

Offers from Leicester, Nottingham and Southampton. Been invited to informal interviews at both Kent and Lancaster
Going to firm Leicester when I have all my offers in, and hopefully get Kent as my insurance. Amazed I'm getting so many offers.

I had one at St John's and one at Queens, the one at St John's was awful! i could barely answer anything and failed to understand what they were asking, but the one at queens went alot better! Not expecting an offer but a good experience anyway! how were yours?

Got offers from both York and Sheffield. Although I think the York course might be a bit more respected, I prefered Sheffield when visiting. Having a bit of a dilemma, any advice?

I'm a first year doing Sheffield Biochemistry so feel free to ask any questions. All I'll say is that the department is excellent, v. organised and the lecturers are passionate and engaging. So far we've been studying a mix of biochemistry, genetics and microbiology to gain a solid grounding in all the molecular biosciences. All of these subjects are interlinked but in second year you'll specialise in biochem.

I didn't apply to York but I understand that their course is more chemistry based so you'll share your lectures between the biology and chemistry departments. Both unis are v. good for the subject so you'll do well at whichever one you choose- I think we're ranked 3rd in the country this year. Imo Sheffield is a better student city as you've got a better nightlife, amenities, the big student villages and if you want to get away from it all, the peak district is on your doorstep.

Thanks, I think that's why a preferred it, just had a better feel to it and seemed like there was a lot more going on.

AS: 4A (bio, chem, maths, further maths)
A2 predicted: 2A* 2A
So I've got offers for Manchester, York, Bristol and Imperial, I had an interview for Cambridge but I'm not holding my breath lol. I have no idea where to go. I don't want to go to Imperial because everyone keeps saying that there is no social life; really considering Manchester because I loved the city and the the whole atmosphere when I went over for my interview but now I'm wondering about York and Bristol, they both seem really good and I've never been to either so don't want to write them off. They invited me to go over to have a look around but as I live in N.Ireland I don't know when I'll get a chance, might go over Easter/midterm if I have time. Any advice or info on unis would be appreciated!

Doesn't matter, got an offer for cambridge afterall!! Trinity college for A*A*A
