Have been speaking with staff and some ex-students who are at university and who said that they didn't feel prepared for university. We came up with an idea of changing how we run the Post 16 timetable to:
9am - 7pm, with 1 hour periods. With no lunch hour.
2 lessons of 3 hours per week with breaks per subject if single AS/A2 (longer for doubles, BTECs etc)
Specalist lectures on certain things from staff/visiting lecturers.
Have a member of staff who purely does lectures and who acts as support for staff and students, but who holds Masters/PhD.
Please note this is a plan, and we do benefit from having a few ex university lecturers as staff. and quite a few members of staff who have Masters/PhDs
