Im taking an architecture degree and have been told to buy a scale ruler.
Ive been looking online but theres all different kinds, for example triangle ones, scale 1:5, 1:50 etc

Which one do architects use and with what scales? Thanks in advance

its much of a muchness tbh. you'll be using 1:5 / 50 / 500 1:20 / 200 1:10 /100 1:1250 / 1:2500 most of the time. trianglular ones will give you more options of scales, for obvious reasons.

For a scale one, get plastic because it's smoother, you'll only be drawing against it.
    Metal is for scalpel cutting.
