I had an economics test today and having not written a exam-quality economics essay since June, it came out like total ****.

I'm not very good at improvising an answer to a question, so I end up writing on and on without any kind of structure and struggling to join up all my ideas and evaluation.

Does anyone have techniques to help me develop my written communication?

It depends what the question asks you and what level you are (i.e. A levels):

Generally the largest question in economics would be a discuss question and so - intro, pros, cons, conclusion
