i had it not long ago...i got it in the 2nd week of term, and my doc told me to avoid drinking until the end of term as my liver could still be enlarged..
why dont you just ask your GP?

Well I don't think it would give the best impression if i made an appointment just to ask about this! but maybe i will have to make an apointment about something else and then drop it into conversation.

i know this is a little off topic, but what kind of symptoms did you guys have when you had glandular fever? ive got a funny feeling i may have it, but not sure if its just a regular sore throat combined with the general exhaustion of being at uni etc

I first had what I thought was flu- very high temperature/headache etc, then a few days after this started my throat began hurting and within the next few days got completely swollen up and got covered in white, by this time it was agony to swallow and eat/drink etc, and I just felt like I needed to sleep all the time. There are various websites that list the symptoms on if you google it. If you think you may have it the best idea would be to get a blood test done though.

Heya, i had it real bad for just over a month in sept/octob which was realy rubishy, but i wasn't told to stay off the drink, tht cud be becaus at the time i was 17, i dnt no, but i was still tired and groggy when i went back to college and work, but i went out like a couple of weeks after id got over the worst of it, and no bad effects and it didnt come back bad, as long as your over the worst of it id say it was alrite, well it was fine for me anyway!
I got glandular about 2 weeks ago and it’s attacked my liver. I’m fit and healthy so I’ve bounced back pretty quick just more tired than normal, I’m 19. I’ve had 3 blood tests and that’s me finished with them. I got told I’m not allowed to play football for 4 weeks minimum as if the ball hits my liver it’ll rupture, when can I drink again? Should I wait the 4 weeks??

Just wondering how long I should avoid drinking for- I've had glanduar fever almost 3 weeks and am still very tired all the time and unable to do much. From what i've found on various websites the advice ranges from 6 weeks to 6 months. Has anyone had GF in the past and got a doctors opinion on this?

I had glandular fever in April 2018 and slowly recovered which it then cleared up in May. I would recommend not to drink at all for six months, I stupidly started drinking again two months after and I had the worst liver pains which felt awful. It’s now the 6th month on and nothing’s changed, I feel tired after drinking as well as having an enlarged liver which feels uncomfortable after drinking OR even after eating big meals/ takeaways. I would honestly recommend staying off it until you feel like you can as it can mess your liver up.
Hope all goes well
