I got a swollen ankle from doing some kind of perverse excercise before running, and it seems to have harmed, rather than prevented harming my ankle. It is now really painful when I run/walk, and it's getting quite swollen. Is there anything you'd reccomend I could do to bring down the swelling?

ice on for 10 mins then off for an hour.

Oh right. You say rice?! I have had hot baths which i thought might relax it? maybe I should do the ice thing.

how recently did you hurt your ankle? Heat is contraindicated in the first 48-72 hours.............

Right- dunno what that means! I hurt it last thursday, not yesterday, the one before. So it's been painful since then.

basically it means heat isn't allowed.........!

Hmmmmm - you should be ok to heat by now but I'd go with the ice first and se ehow it goes from there :smile:
