BRACES! should i take them out?

hi guys,

had braces put in about 7 months ago, orthadontist says its time to take them off, but i have doubts. I think my sides are not perfect, there are minute gaps in between the actual side tooths, as well as having a foward slanted posture.
Had a word with orthadontist, but she isnt having it, she says shes still wants take them off.

If she does, i know ill grow up and pay privatley to get perfect teeth.

She might wanna put retainers on that'll move them further. Maybe your teeth have moved as far as they can with the fixed.
are you getting retainers after removing your braces?

mind you, 7months is a short period, I had mine for 2years or so

yeh shes gonna put retainers, but do retainers really make a huge diffrence after braces are removed?

They might give you another one. I had a retainer brace to pull down my incisors on the top because they were so high up in my mouth you oculdn't see them. Then, because that brace pushed my other teeth outwards, I had another one. They can't always tell while you're still wearing the brace if you'll need another one.
I had mine for a year. had to get them off cos the ortho in jpan wanted us to pay 350000yen to get a new set cos the one I had on he couldn't "deal with it"

I have retainers now, but I personally feel they don't make a difference. If you wear them every night, then yes, it will hold. But if you miss a night your teeth will feel different already, and this is after 1.5years of wearing a retainer (every night)!!

When I had my braces taken off I wasn't convinced that they had done their job, like yours they were almost right but not quite. Then I had my retainer fitted, wore it at night for about 2 years and now they are more or less perfectly straight. I guess it's different for everyone but I'm sure your orthodontist knows what she's talking about

I've had my braces for about 2 years. Did your orthodontist give you a reason for wanting to take them out after 7 months? My treatment's slow because my jaw is partly dislocated and my jaw bone isn't that strong.
i had my braces in the days before decent retainers. Had train tracks for 2 years aged 10-12 (I lost all my milk teeth by age 7). The retainer was horrid. I wore it for most nights but would rip it out in my sleep. My top teeth are perfect, bottom ones have moved back. Now age 21 and not really bothered as my top teeth look lovely. Suggest you listen to your ortho - the new retainers are brilliant and when you stop wearing it you can have a tiny wire fixed ehined your teeth. (Again, at the time i was told 'i was too young to have a wire')

Never mind!
Smile!

I've had a wire behind my front teeth since I had my braces out, over 3 years ago. The orthodontist said it will be there until it drops out naturally  not looking forward to that day! Choking to death has never appealed to me...
teeth can quite easily move back after having had the brace off. I had a brace on for two years but it may as well have been only one year, b/c the work the braces did in the last year on moving teeth into positions, was all undone in time since having braces removed. Not had braces on for 2.5 years now...they did a good job though.

:toofunny: Don't worry, you'll feel it drop out. We were at a party when my friend's one dropped out...While she was eating, lol.
A retainer will keep your teeth straight. However, be warned...the lower jaw is going to move more easily!!! I left my retainers out for 3 days when i was ill. The top teeth are fine but I have to have another retainer fitted on my bottom jaw, because my teeth don't fit.
I had train tracks for a year and then a retainer for another year, which I didn't really wear.My teeth did move forward a bit but they look fine really.

I still have the bottom retainer in-I have to wait until it falls out.It has been in for over 2 years and I'm getting sick of it,lol.

first off, you are NEVER going to have 'perfect teeth'.. you just can't.. doesn't work.. celebs pay stupid amounts of money to get their teeth as straight and as white as they can, and they just look stupid because they look unnatural..

secondly, when you have your braces off, even if you do have them left on longer, it is likely that those gaps will still be there. i only had my braces on for 7 months, and i had gaps between my 'fangs' and the teeth behind, but after wearing a retainer for a few months, those gaps disappeared.. your teeth WILL move when your braces come off, but only enough to close those gaps... as long as you wear those retainers.

you should listen to your orthadontist... she knows best.
