Help! obsession

Basically I can't relax and sleep at night with any form of noise even if its only a little, (though for some reason im ok with noise that is outside comming through the window :confused, unless its loud). Anyway I live at my parents and theres a fridge downstairs in the kitchen (as you would expect lol) thats noisy and even though I can only hear it a tiny bit from my room Im still obsessive that the noise is there so can't get to sleep. I only noticed last night I heard a light continous noise and listened on the floor and figured it was the fridge. Its not the actual noise thats keeping me awake just knowing the noise is there  I can't turn the fridge off my parents would go mad, any ideas :frown:

Have u got ear plugs - they are great cos im such a light sleeper! maybe there's something else thats keeping you up, r u worrying a lot about anything in particular? like exams, relationship worries etc?

I'm exactly the same! I hate my halls because of all the noise but for some reason I find distant noise from outside ok. I might invest in some earplugs if they're that good.

argh god. I know how you feel, kind of. well, not with the fridge, but things like ticking clocks, or gurgling radiators always annoyed me so much I couldn't sleep. The clocks thing was simple enough, I got a digital clock, and replaced the landing clock with one that didn't tick.
Maybe you could try getting something like a draught excluder for your bedroom door, to try block out noise though, rather than draughts?

Yeah I cant sleep in a room that has a ticking clock in it lol, once i used a clock for my alarm rather than my mobile phone; the ticking got so annoying i had 2 shut it on my wardrobe so it wasnt as bad!!

For me it's things like something rattling in the fridge or the boiler making a noise. Grrr it drives me insane
