Is Manchester a safe place to be?
Hi, if there is anybody here that has been to Manchester or knows someone that has been to Manchester, could you please help me? Is Manchester, mainly city centre, a safe place to be like out and about and on public transport etc? Are there any rough/dangerous areas to be avoided or taken great care with?

Avoid 'Moss Side'. As best as you can. Very rough.
it's safe enough to walk from the city centre to salford in the middle of the night, so yeah i'd say it was safe.

Along the lines of the OP: how safe is it to be a student there? Do many students get mugged/attacked or anything?
i'm sure it does happen...but i've never heard of it happening in all the time i've lived here.

What about around Urbis (the museum), the docklands and the Man City stadium? Has anyone ever been to the Man City stadium on a tour cos I heard some interesting things about it?
hey i heard that deansgate was kinda rough with quite a bit of crimes.
In the student areas, like Fallowfield, there have been a few muggings, and theres been one sexual assault that i've heard about. Its generally very safe, in the city centre and on public transport. As long as you keep your wits about you and don't go out late at night on your own, you should be fine

If it were up to me I'd be going to Old trafford instead. But I can't bcos I'm going on a residential school trip so everything's going to be supervised. As things are supervised it should be OK but I'm still worried as there's going to be 30+ students with only 2 teachers plus I'm going with a bunch of morrons!
I'm seriously considering taking an escort for protection but I don't know how to go about getting one of these, affording one and doing all the arrangements. 
You see, we're going there by train and tube! I'm scared. What do you guys think? Can anyone help me out?
