Pooled, rejected, and then offered!

Hey all, a friend of mine just got an offer for Engineering at Churchill. He was pooled, and then received a letter of rejection about a week ago. Today, he gets a mail saying that they have decided to give him an offer for 2007 because he didnt have enough work experience. Does this kind of thing usually happen or are the Admissions tutors losing their touch? I guess rejectees still have hope then!

wow, that's weird, but good for him all the same!
Same thing happened to my friend, except the rejection was an accident on UCAS.

i got rejected, pooled and then offered! well, the first rejection letter was actually wrong but noone told me until i got a phone call asking me to go for more interviews. i had about 4 days thinking that i had been rejected though, original college didnt contact me about it.

I think it's reasonably common (as in, more common than any other subject) for Engineering - since most colleges encourage deferred entry so you can get some useful Engineering experience.
