Grr I hate Norfolk!

I'm trying to arrange travel up to Sheffield and it's so much hassle. It's like once you're living in this place there's just no way out again-all the decent places are really far away (apart from London) and working out a train route is really difficult since we're on that stupid piece of land which juts out. Anyone who lives here or has been here before will understand how frustrating this place is!

Yes. Norfolk is out of the way. Where in Norfolk are you? Can't you get a bus to Cambridge and get the train from there?

Its not too bad going anywhere south, just go via London; but when you have to start changing at Birmingham/Peterbough it does get messy :frown:

Edit: Hold on, theres a direct train to sheffield, its the Liverpool one.

I'm in Dereham, so yeah, I could get the bus to Cambridge and go from there.

A direct train! Excellent! I've never actually tried to go up north on the train alone before so I really have no idea what I'm doing to be honest.
Tell me about it !!

Sometimes I wish I didn't live here....But then i look out of my window, see the trees, and realise that maybe, somewhere, all the hassle is worth it.

Hehe, same here! For the past 6 years I've basically just been working up to getting out of Norfolk...there's just nothing here! :frown:

Oooh I was in Norfolk over new years it was so lovely!! All in the middle of nowhere (Blo Norton how random hehe... near Diss). It was sooo lovely and peaceful I had the most amazing time. But I think living there would be another issue...
suffolk is not much better, trying to get to nottingham involved 2 changed on the train, i mean honestly, its the middle of nowhere.

Well I'm now confused! According to the national rail website I can travel straight from Norwich to Sheffield with no changes whatsoever. Plus if I buy a central value 7 return ticket it's only £25...does this actually sound right? How come it's about £60 when you have to have several train changes?

EDIT: would also appear that these tickets aren't available. *pissed off*
