I too have just had a rejection, mine was from York for Politics/Economics, I now have so much sympathy for you because I know what it's like. However, I don't have any other offers in reserve, so I hope that you appreciate that while a rejection is never a good thing, you're extremely fortunet to have the other offers in the bank...

It's all to obvious, the elite institutions are in cahoots.
I'm just receiving all the right signs.
On november 17th i get a nottingham offer, the following day i get a bristol rejection, 2 days later i get a UCL offer.
A friend of mine has a near perfect academic record, he was rejected by cam for history (ok its cam), and also rejected by warwick very soon after applying. Isn't that weird, no interview or nothing, whats more aren't they supposed to consider your application for 2 months or so, his was more like 7 weeks.

My best friend who is in my economics class managed to get an offer from warwick in november and was rejected by notts in january.
It's clear there is some rule breaking going on, i think it must be put to a stop.

I wouldnt be too bothered if i were you. A few people i know have been accepted by cambridge and got rejected by warwick, somebody one one of the threads said her school were complaining as they had noticed an odd pattern of warwick rejections. Maybe you can find it if you searched? Nottingham and UCL i would say were better anyway!

Thats surprising, those are good grades - but uni's don't always make the right decisions.

As you have found out, the hard way.

This wasn't for Economics but for Psychology I got an offer from Warwick one day then a rejection from Notts the next....although I do find it hard to believe that anything sinister was going on.

Yeh - I got rejected from Notts for economics, but accepted by Warwick, which I was pretty pleased about. I was never really gonna go to Nottingham, but because of the sheer strength of Warwick's economics department, I was glad to get the offer. I've heard it said that Notts reject ppl cos they don't do 4 A-levels - is this true? I myself do just the 3.

As for all this conspiracy stuff, isn't it the truth that unis can't see what other unis you applied to? I know some may say unis look at your past grades etc and if they're pretty good, make the assumption that you applied to oxbridge too, but not everyone with high grades applies to oxbridge or the other elite unis. Unusual perhaps, but it does happen.

Don't think this is true because I do 3 A-levels + Gen Stud and I got a place at Nottingham for Economics
i do 3 Alevels as well and i got into notts

i think that if you dont do 4 AS's, notts wont accept you

im not sure about that tho

one of my friends had 3 ASs and got 3 ASs, predicted 3 As for A2 and got rejected. duno tho

Hey, i lost out the other way  Rejection from Nott, offers from warwick, UCL and york. Dunno if you went to see UCL but i didn't like it that much, but saying that it has a good deparment, but then so does warwick - ARGGGH.

GCSEs: 2A* 8A
AS:4As
A2s: Predicted 4As.

Though have to say i dropped my biology AS and picked up further maths. Did people say nottingham like 4 A-levels? I'm going to see warwick on the econ open day on 25th of feb, anyone else?

Thus may sound silly and outrageous, but these are top institutions and they can get away with anything. Think about it, top academics within a field know one another, could it not be possible that admissions tutor from university X knows tutor from university y. In an attempt to get the right number of students they may work together, things are that much more difficult these days as they do not know where else people are applying. Well, i'm just seeing too many of these signs. I'd like to believe that they were ALL happened by HUGE coincidence but it's obvious there is some rule breaking going on and it has potential to destroy the future of many.
I've had an offer from Notts but I haven't even heard from Warwick yet (for Economics). When did all the people who have been accepted by Warwick for Econ find out they got in?

I'll be going up on the same date...but it's for the Business sch open day...
yea though these unis are roughly of the same standard u get into one just doesn't guarantee u can get into the others...like i've got offers from warwk and nott but kicked out by york...initially i find it really ridiculous and surprising...but yea as shown here quite a few ppl do experience similar things so there u go...
