I should hasten to add that when I say it should be banned, I mean it would be an offence to view, possess or distribute any pornography

I don't believe you spend this much time on the internet without loooking at porn.
Intefering busy bodies, why should you enforce your opinions on me? If it wasn't for porn then everyone would be super-horny all the time, which would lead to increases in rape.

Banning pornography is yet another example of the nanny state getting involved where its not wanted. There are far more urgent issues facing Britain today than pornography - like changing our relationship with the EU.

But there will always be a demand for porn, so by making it illegal, you'll be further supporting gangsters so the rights of the people in the films will less protected by law and thus be put at greater risk.

Because I am a moral person who likes to fill my life with constructive things to do

Pornography is a pernicious moral problem that is ignored because of the sin and greed spilling out of society

The law does not prevent STDs, suicide and drugs.
if you ban it and send it underground then things have the potential to get nasty. On that principle I think prostitution should be legalised in this country to get some control over human trafficking and other social issues involved, also no society can ever be gender equal while some of its weakest members are not protected properly by the state
No.

i don't think they should ban porn

what i do think however they should do is make music videos more child friendly. Porn is fine, but when it's appropriate. having music videos at 3pm of lady gaga or britney spears wearing hardly anything rubbing their boobs is not acceptable. However, pornographic images on television past 9pm I would consider to be acceptable, as it is adult viewing.

Wow, who honestly cares about what you think? Almost everybody watches it so why bother?

Good though, innit?
Reasonable points, flaws in there, but reasonable. I can't really be bothered to dispute them as I'm biased. But I will say this: you can ban porn, but it's impossible to uphold that law. So long as there's cameras, and people having sex, there will be porn. In fact, if you were to arrest every person who's ever viewed porn, most of the population would be behind bars. It's human nature to enjoy erotic imagery, and in this day and age, you will never stop that.

1. Effect on children

Banning it would not stop child porn. That is already illegal anyway.

Banning purely to stop children viewing it is nonsense. That same fail logic could be used to say we should ban all alcohol, ban all junk food, ban all tobacco etc.

2. It is addictive, and has a negative effect on the brain

All fail sources. Post some real studies that show it has a negative affect on the brain.

Addiction is not a reason to ban it.

In relation t the sources.

Opinion piece.

Funded by 'American conservative and religious organisations. biased link. Cannot be used

This piece is clearly written in a biased way. Uses made up facts (proved by the fact the article is talking about a study not even done yet).

So. Terrible opinion piece.

http://yourbrainonporn.com/your-brain-on-porn-series

Clear biased link. Made up viewer reviews. Cannot be used.

All about actual porn addiction. No mention of how bad it is compared to drugs etc.

http://globalpublicsquare.blogs.cnn....ing-men-crazy/

Opinion piece. No facts. Cannot be used.

http://www.boundless.org/2005/articles/a0002269.cfm

Opinion piece. No facts. Very biased. Makes things up. Cannot be used.

So. 4 sources.

All are written with a very biased attitude.
3 are opinion peices which present no facts.

So. i have shown how all of your sources are terrible.

3. It changes our view of women in society for the worse

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/03/10/tech/main6286110.shtml

More porn = less sex crimes.

Did i ruin your fun?

4. It is harmful and dangerous for those participating

Complete nonsense.

The fact you posted such terrible links proves this.

SOME stars get hurt, treated badly. But wait.. this is like every other industry, should we ban them too?

I hope you take a look at the evidence

Actually give evidence rather than completely biased and terrible sources and obviously wrong information first.

So you're telling me because I watch porn a couple of times a week I will soon seek out child porn?

What planet are you on?

I didn't ask a question, your response doesn't make sense.

An animal that breeds sexually getting excited by other members of the same species being naked? Disgusting isnt it.

As Bill Hicks said: "I find it ironic that people who are against things that cause sexual thoughts are generally fundamentalist Christians who also believe you should be fruitful and multiply."

Nobody really cares what you think. Go and troll somewhere else.
Many of the same arguments have been raised over time about things that you would now consider innocuous... take DH Lawrence, for example. Big hoo-hah over Lady Chatterley and how it was going to corrupt women and children, and of course, the wrestling in Women in Love...
