Thinking about doing a automotive & motorsport foundation year then moving onto the Beng course just wanting to know what the social/nightlife is like.

I know I shouldn't judge a uni on it's social aspect but I have been clubbing/partying basically every weekend since the age of 16 so I couldn't really live with out it.

Also what are the people like at city, I mean they are not stuck up and boring like I know alot (not all) of people at the likes of imperial/UCL etc .... are.

So yeah I'm looking for a vibrant uni with a mixed bunch of people preferably ones who like to party.

Oh and don't worry I'm not judging my uni choice souly on this there course looks amazing to say the least and the facilities are top notch.

Ill be living at Liberty Hall to.

Also doing a foundation year won't exclude me will it been abit worried about that ?!

    Hey conflict,

I think you might be better off asking on facebook; not too many City University students seem to be on TSR, to be honest.

Anyway, as always, social life is what you make of it. =) You will most definitely get to meet loads of nice people. City has a very high rate of international students, so it's a very diverse university, which is a great thing in my opinion. I wouldn't say that anyone I have met so far comes off as particularly snobbish. Partywise there's always loads going on, especially during fresher's, since City is not too far from MoS and so on. Also, I don't live in halls, but have heard quite a lot about Liberty (they've also got a facebook group, FYI). Despite being expensive it sounds like people are enjoying their stay.

Hope that helps, good luck with your application. =)

Hi Conflict, I would say that it depends on what you make of it. Apart from Freshers week (the standard nights out to clubs such as MoS...etc), the social side is lacking. A lot of students are local to London so not everyone is in the same boat. You say that UCL is 'stuck up and boring', however if you go to their union bar it is always packed. I can't say the same for Ten Squared (City's union).
But as I said, it's really what you make of it.

This is so true! Social life at City is pretty rubbish IMO, it just seems like everyone is doing their own thing with a group of friends but there isn't a lot of interaction between people from different courses and such. Plus, the SU is really unhelpful about societies so I find that most societies kind of go into hiatus roundabout October and never recover. The SU bar isn't bad in itself but there seem to be the same groups of people all the time and most of us only really go there to talk to our friends and never really socialise with other people.
