Just wondering if there are any fellow Virgins on the forum, and if so which gym they went to? I'm a member of the Kirkstall one in Leeds myself.

Virgin Active - the Richard Branson gym chain.

My contract runs out at my current gym in May so I'll be joining the Sheffield Virgin Active then

Do you like the one at Kirkstall?? We looked around there when we lived at Kirkstall Brewery in the first year at uni but it was a bit pricy for me then

The one at Kirkstall is very good. It's a Life Centre so you get a lot of extra facilities compared to the Pure Fitness centres. I'll admit that it's pricey but it's well worth it for the amount of facilities that you get and if you make use of it like I do. The support's great, the facilities excellent and there's an excellent social side to it too. Quite a few celebrities (loose term) go there aswell.

Kirkstall one is very near me and i've been looking to join a gym. How much is it?

Reply 9

What are the prices like? I'm going to uni in central london, soon and they look fab!

£35 a month off-peak, £45 peak. £40 Student. £25 a month for under-18s. Last time I looked anyway.

I'd advise only to join up if you're willing to commit yourself for three days a week at least, otherwise you're not really getting your money's worth.

Hmm....i might go 3 times a week, but university gym is £45 plus for the year (although i'm only going to be getting from now till the end) and 50p each time; which is quite a bit cheaper and has most things except free weights; which is an additional 50p. I don't think i'd want to pay £40 a month for a gym.

Lol...i was wondering what the hell being a virgin has got to do with going to the gym!
