Aspirin Investigation... Watch

Ok...part of my investigation is to make my own aspirin and I'm going to change a variable in the method to see if I get a purer product. I am also going to titrate 3/4 different 'bought' tablets, but I also want to plot a calibration curve and take the absorbance of all of my 'made aspirins' and 'bought' obviously, and read them off my graph to see the concentrations. What I want to know is what standard concentrations should I plot on my graph? I don't know where I can get a rough idea from. I have got my 'making aspirin' experiment from http://chemistry.about.com/od/demons.../aspirin_3.htm but I can't see any clues about how concentrated my results will be, without just doing the experiment and seeing...appreciate any help..I start monday and wanted to get the curve out of the way quickly..

No one can help? Or is not clear enough?...

You'll have to obtain a pure sample of a known concentration, you might have to make this up yourself, but what soloution would you actually be absorbance testing??

I very much doubt it was, no organic synthesis produces 100% products

i did the melting point test on it and it was exactly what it was supposed to be :bandit:

but i know what you mean :p:

I did that too :p: ....my melting point test also suggested that it was a 100% pure....but something tells me that it probably wasn't! :rolleyes:
