The whole set up must shoulder the blame, yes that includes Jamie Carragher. Blaming it all on one player is pathetic
    Where talking proportions here though.
Rooney has let the team and nation down more than anyone else.

1.If he was winking to Scolari about the incident then he was obviously under Scolari's instructions to get him sent off. But hey, how do we he was winking about Rooney? Every chance there was selective editing involved to get Ronaldo to be apart of the blame factor.
It was shown during the live broadcast. They were filming Ronaldo walking away from the incident moments after Rooney had been sent off and then he winked at the bench whle they were showing him, rather than them seeing him wink then showing him doing it. No selective editing was possible

What would you suggest the wink was about?

i personally feel that Rooney didn't do much as a lone striker, this is overtly due to the manager. The position doesn't it suit him at all, but to England's credit, it was only after the sending off, that England showed us a glimpses of their offensive maneouvre in the entire tournament, with just 10 men!

Ronaldo was just incredulous towards his teammate and for the sportmenship.

The topic of conversation is not how England played.

    It's Ronaldo

ANYTHING to do with Ronaldo is got to do with this thread.

    Really?
Listen i know Carra and Stevie have to shoulder some blame but you cant put to much blame on someone missing a pen in a PSO, its a lottery and with extreme pressure.
However, if Rooney hadnt of lost his temper and got himself sent off maybe England would of had it wrapped up before 90 mins instead of leaving his team mates to play 50 mins with 10 men.

It's not a lottery. If they had what it took in that specific situation england may still be in the tournament. They had more say over the eventual outcome than Rooney did anyway, especially considering england played BETTER after shrek went off.

I'm not one for vilifying individual players personally.

Im not Vilifying rooney on his own, but he must accept that a large proportion of blame must rest on his shoulders. Im aware he is probably more than aware of this and it will make him a better player in future.

Yeah.. I don't think they realise we can see slow motion replays and that we know what disgraceful cheats they are
To be honest I don't think they care about being branded cheats, because the ref doesn't get to see the replay and a red card might be given because of the reaction the player gets. I'm all for a TV referee who watches the game/replays and reports into the earpiece of the ref so he can take the appropriate action.
