Thank the Lord someone else is ready to think Beattie deserves a shot. What he has done with so little service is worthy of a shot, at least.

I am starting to warm to the idea of a very attacking midfield. How aboot...

    Robinson
    Nev. Campbell. Terry. Cole
    Carrick
SWP (running up the flank) Cole (running up the flank)
Gerrard (sitting in front of midfield)
    Lamps (slightly further up)
Owen (running diagonally and straight through their defenses)

That is AGGRESSIVE play. I think our defense is strong enough for it to work. And we have loads of pace in midfield...
Campbell may have pace, but he was last seen using it running round in circles like a headless chicken. Hes a liability at the moment.

You would think so, but as i've said before, i dont think Owen can play upfront on his own.
I know what you mean about owen, but to date, I don't think england have got anywhere near the most out of Gerrard OR Lampard. There's a few friendlies coming up at the end of may, so i think it'd be worth a try.

There's a massive gap right there. Even John O'Shea could exploit that midfield. Gerrard is not a defensive midfielder, even as talented as he is, he is not suited there. And why on Earth would you choose Lampard to push up forward over Gerrard?! Duuude, what's going on?

If I had a choice of leaving one first team player behind, it'd be Lampard. That'd clear alot of things up and Carrick and Gerrard can play in centre mid. Owen and Crouch upfront.

Gerrard and Crouch play well as it is. Owen suits a Crouch-type partner. Gerrard and Owen link up like magic.

    Robinson

    Neville Terry Ferdinand Carragher

    Beckham Carrick Gerrard J. Cole

    Owen Crouch

love the look of that side---is A. cole fit though??

Also, I'd have the exepreicne of Becks instead of Carrick in the holding role
I actually thought he did bloody good there last time

    A. Cole came on as a sub in the last Arsenal game, so he is definitely coming back! (well hopefully)

Bad luck Steve i hope you fail before the next major championship, i.e sleep with Brian Barbers wife and therefore we don't have to worry about you being in charge.

Yes but brazil have good backup players. If Ronaldinho got injured then Juninho Pernambucano would play instead. A world class replacement. For England, Rooney gets injured, up steps Crouch or Bent....
Are you not forgetting the last two england performances which were diabolical untin Crouch came on as sub?

nope i remember them. However, i dont think that makes him a world class striker. There's a huge drop in quality going from Rooney to Crouch.

No sane person is disputing that, but nowt can be done about it though.

He did well against Austria, he played well against Argentina as well. He's been doing alright for Liverpool. Owen simply can't play on his own upfront, Sven hasnt given anybody else a chance really andit's too late to experiement - England will almost certainly start with Crouch and Owen upfront.

SWP hasnt played all season you jokers.
Gerrard and Lampard are not as good as Kaka and Ronaldinho.
Lucio is as good as anything England have to offer at the back.
Adriano and Ronaldo crap all over Owen and Rooney let alone Owen and Crouch.

England have a lot of great players, but are not (on the evidence so far) a great team yet, i think they need a new manager.

Hopefully they'll prove me wrong (about the team thing) in the World cup.

You've been taken in by the propaganda!

Ronaldinho's the best player in the world, but he plays very forward so direct comparisons are difficult. Gerrard's better than Kaka and on his day Lampard's just as good.

Lucio's great but the rest of their defence is shaky - and I'd pick Terry over Lucio any time.

On present form, Adriano and Ronaldo look anything but the best strike force in the world! And I'd pick Rooney in my team over either of them. Owen's perhaps the best out-and-out goal scorer/poacher in the game - his record at Liverpool and Madrid show this.

I really don't think Brazil will win this world cup. They're beatable. I'd love England to win it, but I think Argentina or Germany will be the main challengers to Brazil.

Sorry. He is not. He has had a very poor 2006 but is an absolutely sublime player. I support Internazionale. I watch him frequently.
His problem is to do with personal reasons and not being happy with Mancini, the manager.

You've been taken in by the propaganda!
No. Im not as blindly bias as you guys.

Ronaldinho's the best player in the world, but he plays very forward so direct comparisons are difficult. Gerrard's better than Kaka and on his day Lampard's just as good.
You could compare ronaldinho to Rooney who is better than crouch. And Ronaldinho is a lot better than Rooney.
Gerrard is slightly better than Kaka. But as a pair Kaka and Ron are better offensively and Emerson and

Lucio's great but the rest of their defence is shaky - and I'd pick Terry over Lucio any time. And Juninho and Emerson are as good as them defensively.
From set pieces Brazil have 3 or 4 players who are better than Beckham at free kicks.

On present form, Adriano and Ronaldo look anything but the best strike force in the world! And I'd pick Rooney in my team over either of them. Owen's perhaps the best out-and-out goal scorer/poacher in the game - his record at Liverpool and Madrid show this.
Yeh. He's played so consistently for Newcastle this season. When was the last time Owen played 90% games for his club in a season?
As for best poacher, Id have Shevchenko, Adriano (even off form) and Trezeguet over him any day. Oh and Toni.

I really don't think Brazil will win this world cup. They're beatable. I'd love England to win it, but I think Argentina or Germany will be the main challengers to Brazil.
So after that you are putting Brazil as favourites?
