Leave it CiderPeter, there are so many pool idiots on here who couldnt offer an unbiased opinion if their life depended on it. Every other post seems to be raving on about how good liverpool are, as if they are the best team in the world. They do no wrong, they are always right. Makes Mancs look good and thats coming from an arsenal fan
:rolleyes: What is your problem? Have i once said in this thread its the best goal ever scored?

I thought the goal was quality. Alonso made Harper trip because he had to back-track. I do think there is technique involved in kicking a ball 60 yards accurately. But I also think it's irrelevant that Alonso spotted the keeper off his line because we know he consciously looks to try that shot and admits he practices it in training.

I hate Chelsea and Man United. So fave Chelsea player would have to be Claude Makelele just because he truly holds Chelsea together and hes always smiling.
Hmm :rolleyes: , interesting...

Agree with Daniela. Pace, power and accuracy. Take nothing away from the shot. How many players can do that?

Rivaldo did play quite a bit on the left for Barca, wasn't his best there tho and it became more of a left sided forward role as the years went on. He did start his career playin left wing tho.

Claude Makelele - the guy invented the holding midfield role - pure class. Others try and play the position but show me someone who does it as effortlessly as Claude - hate Chelsea, but you gotta admire the guys class.
believe it or not, there were holding midfielders before Makelele.

He played as more of a second-striker imo. He had a good partnership with Kluivert. Barca had plenty of players who could play outside left e.g. Overmars, Luis Enrique, even Simao. They lacked a goalscorer, which was what Rivaldo was for them (and Depor). I dunno about his early career, but he was never a World Class winger.

Is the ball lighter this season? It seemed to swerve a fair bit in the air? I know last season the balls did that....

For BArca he often occupied the top left man in the 433 system and also had played on the left wing for them pre-99. And, despite his dislike for it, he was wicked there as he is in most attackin positions.

I tihnk nowadays he plays a similar role supporting the main stirker from the left flank at Olympiacos.

"Rivaldo was right; his problems have been elsewhere. He is open, direct and emotional, not one who conceals what he thinks. In the changing room he once said to coach Luis Van Gaal that he no longer wanted to play on the left wing. Since his career had been anything but an easy route he and he had suffered a lot on the way, he felt that he had the right to make some demands. But he overdid the tone and was punished by the coach."

Fat Sam = Fat ****
Chelsea = Scum
Liverpool = Disappointing, bent
Harry = Clueless but bent
i noticed you said something about being unbiased. hmm, it wasn't liverpool or chelsea threatened to be thrown out of europe or stripped of fourth place for dodgy dealings bringing in african players by paying off a belgian side. so added to your 'list' we should have

Arsenal = controlling a belgian club for transfers - completely illegal.

no doubt you will say there was no evidence. well i'm sorry, but the evidence the beeb provided agaisnt the above 4 clubs wouldnt sit down in court never mind stand up. crawl out yer holier than thou ******** and start speaking sense like you used to.

Nice work .

Although he may have played there for a while, he was essentially a second striker. He played behind Ronaldo for Brazil quite often, at Depor, and the post Van Gaal days. Getting back to thread question, was he a world class winger? No :p:

Probably not, but he was world class and could play on the wing! Good enough for me! :p:

I love Rivaldo!! =') (The 2nd vid is cool... the goal he scores 2 mins thru is hilarious!! )

I have to go see an Olympiakos game before he retires!!

Great clips. Nice to see he's still got that awesome left-foot. (He's playing as a second-striker in those vids btw )

Perdag Djordjevic must be annoyed at Rivaldo's arrival, he's a brilliant dead-ball specialist himself!!

Thats a load of rubbish actually. FIFA asked the FA to investigate and guess what, they didn't find a thing wrong with anything involving Arsenal's practices. So there was nothing illegal about anything, we are in the clear - so basically you are wrong :p:
