Whitney Houston, Genesis, Huey Lewis and the News
Hello everyone. I'm reading American Psycho at the moment and there seems to be three dedicated chapters on these artists but I'm unsure about their connection?
Unfortunately I wasn't alive when these people were performing in the 80's so I don't know too much about them. Were theses artists considered "good", "popular"?
I'm trying to find out, as I'm not sure if the speaker is reviewing these artists in a passionate way or being sarcastic

Having seen the movie, Patrick Bateman is quite a fan of these artists and hacks someone with an axe just for bad mouthing Huey Lewis and the News. Yes they were popular in the mid-late 80s and were brilliant too and did some catchy tunes too that I still love to listen to.

Genesis were very popular among people who liked progressive rock, if that's any help.
Of course, Peter Gabriel era was better than Phil Collins era, so the 80s weren't a high point in the career of Genesis.
