I spoke to the Head of Admissions at Christ's College at an open day in July and she said that if you have learning difficulties they will have to interview you. I'm not sure if this means anyone applying through CSAS in general or just people with LD's.

I think it will most likely depend on the severity of whatever has disrupted your education/ how much you have been disadvantaged.

Applying through the CSAS doesn't guarantee an interview, it only allows the candidate to be assessed in the context of their difficulties. Although some colleges may choose to interview all LD admissions this isn't actually university policy. I read on the admissions page that they will not give false hope to a candidate they believe will not be successful at the university regardless of their circumstances.

I applied for VetMed at Downing and haven't heard anything yet. But I think they wait for my my BMAT result first which comes out on the 23rd. Don't know what it's like for other subjects though

I think Clare have sent out interviews to vets though, so maybe they're not waiting for the BMAT results?
I guess it's all college-specific though.
As far as I'm aware, Clare vets are the only ones told about interviews so far, but I don't think anyone from Clare has a date yet.
I've applied to St Catharine's and have heard nothing since submitting my SAQ

Aw, thanks! I'm actually always really intimidated on TSR by Americans who have like 8 5's already  I took US History, French, and English Lang/Comp last year, and I'm taking AB Calc, English Lit, and Psych this year, plus honors Econ and self-studying for the Macro exam. Are you taking APs too?

You are officially my hero! At least I am not alone for self-studying. Don't worry, I am wayyyy behind you when it comes to AP's as I am studying them this year.

I am taking AP English Literature at school but self-studying for Psychology and English Language/Composition, and possibly two other ones, but I am not so sure which to choose (although I have to start choosing now).

Not all Canadian schools offer them - or even more than three AP courses, and they are usually physics, chem, bio - or English Literature if they are lucky.

How did you find English Language/Composition to be (easy or hard)? - did you self-study for it?

Ah wow, all the others are probably off doing the actual work :P did you apply last year then?

Yeeyyy Downing! I'm applying for Engineering, haven't heard anything. I was just messaging someone who applied for Math last year and they said they didn't find out about their interview till 22nd November.

Apparently Downing is one of the slow Colleges... :/ :frown:

I think a lot of people have this problem; I know I sure do! xD

whoo, more engineers, i was wondering where you all were

Yes I am a Pembroke fresher

My sister's at Downing and loves it there. She is a 2nd year medic.

Oh wow, both you and your sister are at Cambridge?? :O Smart family!

One of the guys in my Math class is applying to Pembroke for Engineering, and I'm applying to Downing

How are you liking the course? Do you mind me asking, what type of Engineering you want to do most?

If you look here: http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1775130

Each college has a different way of looking at things. That's just a thread that looks at trends. But then again, that implies clare would wait. It's all a waiting game I think :')

EDIT: Also, I don't know if you've kept up with it. But the BMAT hasn't been sat everywhere yet due to certain circumstances, so the results may take longer hence why Clare wouldn't bother waiting

You mean you willingly studied APs? Ah, I kid, I actually quite like them myself. Especially because they're the only really fair standardized test in the US, in my opinion...the SAT and ACT are so arbitrary. APs can be really frustrating when you have a poor teacher, though- my US History class did nothing to prepare me last year and I basically self-studied. No one else in my class scored above a 3 because they trusted our teacher. :frown:

They can also be very frustrating when you have to self-study for the majority of the ones that you are going to take.

By the way, I was wondering how you self-study for your AP's?

Little bit worried that I won't get my written work off in time as the teacher marking it is taking forever on an essay I wrote for a project that I want to send off because I think it is one of my best pieces of written work EVER.
Trouble is I won't be here over the weekend to post it off, might have to email admissions and tell them the situation :frown:

I know! I worked through that paper today, some questions are just so short! Well, I am preparing assuming I will get an interview at all :/ Trinity for Maths, I am begging to think I could have chosen an easier college haha

Haha OH WELL DONE! Mmm one of my friends applied to Clare for History, so I'll be crashing in there if we get in! ;P

Seems Clare send their invites the earliest. Apparently Downing is one of the slowest :frown: so I'll have to wait a few more weeks.

And, well, we've come across one another now!

trust....there is no set strategy for Trinity....its just impressing them with your knowledge in depth logically. I have left the paper for later but looks good....3 questions usually is the bench mark  I chose Trinity against everyones advice

how you preparing? just the paper?

Ahaha yes we'll be united in our self-studying! I've actually never had to self-study before; my school offers tons of APs. Unfortunately we can only start taking them junior year, which is so frustrating...

I thought Lang./Comp. was pretty easy, but I had a phenomenal teacher who made us do tons of practice essays and gave lots of specific tips. I would recommend going on the College Board website and doing a lot of their essay prompts from previous years, and reading the sample essays and rubrics. And take practice exams to find your weak spots. Besides that...practice reading texts looking for purpose/thesis rather than theme/tone...and make sure to practice the whole test timed, because I personally always get fatigued around the middle of the second essay and slow down. And of course, you have to be a pretty quick reader for the multiple choice, although I'm not sure how you'd work on something like that. Last of all, according to my teacher, the Lang/Comp. essays are very similar to the Lit essays, so taking that in school will go a long way towards preparing you. That's all I can think of at the moment, but if you need any specific help, you can message me.

As for other ones to self-study...I've heard Bio is actually not too bad, mostly memorization and similar to Psych. And if you've taken/are taking calculus in any form, AB Calc is supposed to be pretty easy.

Got an invitation for interview yesterday! I'm sooo happy, oh god. PPS at Murray Edwards, anyone else? Or just PPS in general?

I was wondering whether it's worth writing whole new essays (you know, a bit of show-off essays, where you can shine with your broad knowledge and all that blah blah blah) or it's still better to stick with already written essays as for homework or for mock exam? And does anyone know if it's okay to send them essays from last year since honestly this year I haven't even written any yet. :s
