I'm just preparing for my jan exams......should have s1-2 m1-3 c1-4 fp1 and bits of fp2 fp3 covered. attempting few step questions but the questions in the trinity paper are shorter.......so just polishing my conceptual understanding :colone:

I am doing maths and fur maths only. So I assume ur doing 10 exams cuz ur doing 3 maths. Can I ask what modules (other than these 12) did u do and plan to do? I just know there are 3 maths so I want to study other modules as well. btw I have heard from a student in trinity that they will be asking us to do 3 questions before the interview but they are expecting us to do more in the interview. The total should be 6-7 questions to get in. But, I am not sure about this.

Got an invitation for interview yesterday! I'm sooo happy, oh god. PPS at Murray Edwards, anyone else? Or just PPS in general?

I was wondering whether it's worth writing whole new essays (you know, a bit of show-off essays, where you can shine with your broad knowledge and all that blah blah blah) or it's still better to stick with already written essays as for homework or for mock exam? And does anyone know if it's okay to send them essays from last year since honestly this year I haven't even written any yet. :s

Omg, Murray Edwards is already inviting people for interviews? I just died a little bit inside :frown: I've applied to Law there ... :'(

I'm happy for you, though

Congratulations on your offer!

About the essay, I'm not sure if it varies from college to college, but I think they prefer if it isn't rewritten for Cambridge and it is an essay you have already done. I haven't written an essay this year either so I just sent an essay from last year  Well done on your interview again!

from what i understand....3 is the benchmark.....there is no set number of questions that get you in...some got in answering 1-2 questions....they are more interested in your thought process. Im aiming for 3-5 in the hour...and as much after with both the interviewers.

I've dne 7 maths modules...did c3 c4 as it is embedded when you do further mechanic modules especially. The other modules for the third maths a level are
m3-5 s4-5 fp3

My application was an Open one but they allocated me to Fitzwilliam a few weeks ago; I had the ghost UCAS update two days ago where nothing seemed to change except the 'Last updated' tab of the choices page for Cambridge. I've applied for Philosophy; yet to hear - very nervous!

My other choices were pretty straightforward considering Philosophy's status as a 'niche' subject and the fact that faculties are either really good or not so:
King's College London
Durham
Nottingham (Conditional offer of AAB/A*AC/A*BB)
York

Still waiting on Wolfson...emailed them some additional information that they required Friday just gone so I've no idea when I'll hear from them...

Oh? I'm applying to Wolfson as well - what additional info did they ask for? I hope the fact that I've not heard anything isn't bad news. Suspense!

Good job in getting an offer from Nottingham!
I also have yet to hear from St. John's...but apparently only Clare has sent out most of its invites, so we don't have to be worried yet!

Which branch of philosophy are you interested in? I like philosophy in general as well, but I'm reading and thinking more about legal philosophy (jurisprudence) as I applied for Law.

Where else have you applied?

Hey Sam, sorry to hear about that. Did they update your UCAS status? Or was it just a notification via snail mail?

Is there anyone who is applying to Queens' but not for deferred entry other than me? I've heard practically everyone does. (At Queens')

Just snail mail. The letter didn't really detail why I was rejected. Just the standard spiel of "high standard of applicants".

But I know why. They do take GCSE results into account. The fact I`m doing a BTEC as well as an A-level in maths as opposed to Maths, Further Maths, Physics.

Also because I`m doing the AS and the A2 of the maths this year I have no UMS marks. Thus what basis do they have to say how well I will do in academic learning?

I`m pissed off I haven't been given the chance to prove myself. I guess most would be the same really.
