Just wondering, if you didn't get into Cambridge, and you really wanted it + think you have a good shot at it + don't want to go to your other choices, would you reapply the following year?

I originally applied to other unis, but I realised even if the best one gave me an offer, I would probably turn it down and apply again next year.

So I just got rid of all my other choices and just applied to Cambridge. I got to use the word "Cambridge" in my PS, and got to really expand on why I wanted to do this specific course.

My mum said I was doing something really bold, and she supported me.

Now, if I dont get in, heres hoping they dont end the course I applied for, like I have heard they are doing. Otherwise I guess Ill just stay and study here I guess >>>>>>> :2012: :frown:

I only applied to Cambridge last year (not from the UK) and ended up getting pooled. I then kind of realised one day that I really wanted to go to university in the UK, even if it wasn't Cambridge and so decided to take a gap year and re- apply to UCAS. This time I used up all 5 choices. I don't regret it at all now either- I'm loving the year out. I definitely think that if you want to give Cambridge a second go, feel UCAS didn't go the way you wanted it to and wouldn't mind a gap year then you should definitely think about re- applying. You only live once after all.

That's my plan for next year if I don't get in this year! ...or if I don't get into UCL.

Hey there, fellow Education applicant
They would have nearly scrapped the course for entry in 2012 already!
It´s apparently not competitive enough!
Which college are you applying to?

I am seriously considering this as an option. Originally as a mature student I just wanted to get in to any uni that would have me. Now I realise how upset I'll be if I don't get a Cambridge offer and will have to seriously think about taking another year out to strengthen my application and try again. I've completely sold myself on the Cambridge way of life and now feel like no other will do.

Wow I thought I was the only one!! I didn't realise you were applying for Education, everyone really likes and respects you here though

Im applying for St Johns (because of Usha Goswami), and assuming Im not going to get in. But hoping to get picked up by Hommerton though. Where are you applying?

You know that applications for Education Studies are down by 30% this cycle? Great for us (maybe), but bad for the course. I think we are definitely toast :frown:

Hiya! I am applying for Education too! Education with English and Drama at Homerton. I know its not one of the traditional colleges but its actually very nice and has the most places for the course. I know! Great news about the drop in applicants! Don't worry, I went to the open day in September - seems like the course is still going ahead.

Check out your own subject too! its very interesting: here

Of course you need to bear in mind that if Oxford do your subject, or if you are applying to do medicine, then the results in the interactive graph is a bit more difficult to interpret.

Hommerton is lovely you know, I like it too. I actually have friends at Robinson which is considered one of the uglier colleges, and have stayed there lots over the past couple of years and I still thought it was lovely. Hommerton is nowhere near as red-brick as Robinson, so if I end up going there Id be soooo happy still!!

Might see you sometime

Al the education students are coming out of the woodwork now!:colone:
