I was thinking the same thing about the neg rep.

Yeah, that's my worry, which means that I have no chance in getting an interview! :frown:

THINK POSITIVE!

you'll hear by Monday, hopefully

I'm nervous but also actually really looking forward to it. It isn't every day, after all, that you get to talk to world experts in the field about something you love... I'm making sure I have skim-re-read everything I've mentioned in my PS and am reading a few more critical essays I got out from the school library. There's also this book called 'Lennard's Poetry Handbook' where they do a really thorough job of talking about absolutely everything you might want to consider when writing that sort of essay. I'm doing English Lit, Latin, and History, and I did German at AS. What about you?

My school have organised some interview practises but I don't know what else I can do! I took maths last year and now I'm doing F maths A2 and AS and A2 physics :/ but yeah I think it will be a great experience but I'm worried about how I will take it if I don't get in because I really want it :frown:

6th of December. I'm extremely nervous! I don't think I'll cut it really - I'm doing this for the experience in all honesty

How are we supposed to know if we are good enough though? I mean we all get the grades so what are they looking for? Anyway I think it will be a great experience!

Oh, yeah, I'm going to arrange some of them too. There were two people from my school who applied for English at Cambridge last year and both got in - they also both had ~3 practice interviews, so I'm definitely going to be fiending them. I will be totally gutted if I don't get an offer, since it's really the only university I 100% want to go to, but I will have to manage, I suppose; with grades like mine I'm going to have to do really really well at the interview.

how come there are so many who don't reach their offer? Surely if they think you are good enough you should be able to do your exams?

What grades did you get?

Yeah I think I need to practise! I'm in the same situation, I barely know about any of the other unis because my heart is set on going to Cambridge! Do you go to private school?

So You taught yourself to help with the other modules you were taking? What were these other modules? I have Warwick and Bath offers which both require STEP, plus it's SO MUCH FUN! No I'm not going to take STEP I, just II and III. Why would you take I?

How exactly are you preparing, if I may ask? And I suggest putting them aside for a while - I once did a test during the night, got a fairly bad result, than tried to relax, tried again another a few days later at daytime when I was khm less braindead and it went significantly better. (That's why I'm a bit disappointed that my TSA will be during the afternoon after my interview, it would have suited be better the other way around.)
Btw, I'm not sure what 'bas results' are in the case the TSA. What would sound like extremely horrible to me (based on my experience with other examinations) is, according to the statistics, above average. Maybe it is impossible to do 50 questions correctly in 90 minutes, after all.

The first half of the oxford TSA is the same as the cambridge TSA and they have past papers on the cambridge assessment website.
Yeah I think thats probably a good idea, and perhaps I should learn not to panic. I'm usually fine in normal exams but this was scares me more for some reason

I do go to a private school but I claim the moral high ground on the basis that I'm on a full bursary... I'd be happy-ish to go to Durham or St Andrews but I don't know if I'd be thrilled to go to any university I actually have an offer from at the moment.

So you taught yourself C1-4 and 2 applied? What made you teach yourself? I taught myself AS maths but then went into the A2 class so was taught that. that was because I love maths, same for you? what day and time is your interview?

To anyone preparing for interviews - this is really useful. Wish I'd had it before mine.

I go to private school but only because I have to board and my dads company are paying the fees because we moved to switzerland for his job last year and the school was not good so this year I am at boarding school  I've applied to Durham, what college? I probably won't go there though because I think I prefer Warwick so even if I did get an offer I wouldn't. Who do you have offers from?

Oh, neat; I've met a bunch of people who go to boarding-school, it sounds kind of cool. I applied to St Chad's, you? My offers are from Nottingham and Royal Holloway.

I'm sure there's a TSR one somewhere, but I can't find it. I'll have a look and see...
