No, we're all scrooges, go away.
What does friendly mean?

Specify criteria... you can't imagine how annoying vague questions are when dealing with prospective students. Especially if you end up receiving dozens of the things a day...
i live just down the road in coventry, and was considering going there, but after 2 weeks of work experience, 2 open days and going there drinking with my friends i found quite alot of the people there to be very "snotty". im sure there are pleanty of very nice down to earth ordinary people there but i didnt meet any :frown:
Went to lancaster instead, couldnt be happier

i mean warwick is excellent cause in ur first year every1 on campus is pretty much a student so u know u can go up to pretty much any1 and ask them directions and every1 is so nice. No rude chavs, is a huge plus. I mean there was one suspected rohipnol case and that was huge news last term... so its pretty safe to. I mean u can walk from one end of the campus to the other in the middle of the night (includes going through wooded areas and such) without feeling unsafe.

There are about 16,000 students at Warwick. There must be at least a few nice people

Unfortunately, the higher a university is in the league tables, the more "snotty" students it tends to have.

surely thats not true! are you saying the cleverer people are the more "snotty" they are? Thats absurd!

Anyway, define "snotty"...

The opposite of down to earth... at least that's what I assume browzer-911 was implying.
I suppose their addmissions people are friendly. They sent me a HUGE stack of things. Unlike other unis which just sent me bits of paper. Haha.

No I agree with this... it just attracts higher graded students which usually happen to be from top private schools and these are yeh basically a bit snotty SOMETIMES. but not always.

There's so many students it's impossible not to find people you like  I love it, everyone I know loves it. Come to Warwick!

Hear, hear:biggrin:
I went to an open day on Wednesday and thought the place was lacking in a community spirit. Didn't see much of a 'snotty'( ) attitude from anyone though...
Reply 14
I've never understood when people say that - do you expect people to just say hi to everyone they meet to make it have more of a community?

You cant judge from wednesdays though really, everyones either gone home or are doing sports.

I guess it's also hard to see 'community spirit' just from an open day. IMO it definitely exists! Especially within groups, eg sports clubs + socs, people you know from courses, and definitely people sharing halls. Always seeing people I know in the Union etc, it's really nice  and people are generally friendly...

Going back to the snotty thing, this is slightly true, I mean I am working class as they come, and i got an offer and intend on taking it so i mean theres gunna be people like us. However, when I was there for interview I met this really AWFUL human being who was from sussex/surrey (i dont really remember) and when she asked me where I was from and I replied in my uncouth cockney accent 'I'm from east Lundun' she said to me 'oh ur not going to mug me are u, i heard u are all muggers'. I wish i said something Oscar Wilde witty back now......
