How much do you spend on alcohol?

some sort of spin off from the other thread (How much do you spend on food) i have to say that i was a little surprised that so many people ate so healthy. i have some stupid prejudice that most people at uni eat junk food and spend more money on beer than food.

the money you spend on beer (alcohol in general) do you take that from your (or include that in your) food money or from other?

Hmmm, it depends, are we on about when you go out or when you do your shopping? If its the former then up to £30 a night (tho i only go out once a week at most, and that isn't often) Otherwise in food shopping maybe £4 on a bottle of vodka, and thats lasts a bit 1-2 weeks. So not as much ads if i go out.

I'm a skint student..alcohol is a luxury lol

i dont have 'food money' or 'alcohol money' - i dont budget.

One week i can spend 200quid on booze, the next 20quid - i've spent 400quid in 2weeks, i have nothing to show for it, and aint bought much food as i got alot from home - so i guess it's all gne on nights out and the odd meal out.

:/

How cheap is beer etc in an SU bar? for example if a light lager costs £2.30 in the real world, what does it cost in the SU? I know it varies from place to place, but is there a rough estimate?

I think it's about £1.50 at York...not entirely sure about that - it's about that though.

I spend about £30-£40 quid on a night out and thats about 2-3 times a week lol but i do live at home and have a job so im pulling in about £400 a month from the job as well as my loan so im minted compared to most other students

i spend about £20 a night when i go out...i can get drunk on a tenner, the rest's for taxi's and kebabs
but i dont tend to buy much alcohol to have in the flat, sometimes a bottle of wine but only like one a week so i spend around a fiver per bottle, it's quite rare that i'll buy one though...usually my mum buy's me a couple of bottles when i go home that i bring back with me

i'm a cheapskate, and if theres ever any flat parties going on i turn up and drink other peoples stuff (they let me drink it, obviously i wouldnt drink it without asking first!)

1.25 a pint at one of Glasgow's Unions.

Im convinced they water it down though.

Last term I spent roughly £1200 on Taxis (I stay at home), Booze, Chippys, going out generally.

I went out 2 to 3 nights a week every week.

i have a habit of walking home if i can't afford a taxi...i swear its going to get me killed one of these days :frown:

I can spend up to 30 quid a night on alcohol/club entry...sometimes I go out 5/6 nights a week! Brighton is apparently one of the most expensive cities for students to go out in though.

I went out on Tuesday and spent just £2.50, but saw some bands and got hammered.

My shameful secret: 3L bottle of cheap cider.

30quid alot?! I spent 30quid last night and that was just at a bar for drinks, nothing special?!?

at uni going out is pretty cheap as ppl tend to drink before they go out so you can get drunk on a fiver, and then go out and spend only a few quid, most being on taxis. an average night like that here probly spend 15 quid.

I get through maybe 2 bottles of wine a week so about £10 there, and go out twice a week, spending around £20 a night. Soo...Too much. It's the one thing I spend most on, by a long way (horrible grammer there...).

Unfortunately.. about £80 a week. Not to mention the regularity with which I then order kebabs when drunk.

I'm more worried about my health than my bank balance to be honest.

I drink before I go out, and so when I go out, i'm only paying for entry to a club and a few drinks. I never ever get taxis because buses in Manchester run through the night. Went out the other night and spent about £15 which is the most i've spent in ages!
