Ive never understood why they are called jeans? Featherlite, tingle, extra safe etc are all self explanatory but jeans?

Any1 want to enlighten me with their knowledge?
    :ditto:

All I know is they have a jeans trouser pocket on them so I guess you can take them anywhere and are therefore perfect for random sex (i.e. nothing special = no special condom)??

im catholic so against contraception, but is it ok to use eg fun ones like flavoured/ribbed/'tingle's for fun, NOT primarily for contraception? eg if i want an extra fun night with my husband can i use ribbed ones, even though it will ahve a contraceptive effect

If they are contraceptives then you can't use them. However, unless you don't have sex, do you want a child every year?

to the first point - isnt using novelty condoms like sex toys, so is ok even though they are contraceptives? its like catholic men can use viagra

secondly - no , the rhythm method is the only acceptable way - its 85% accurate. the woman measures stuff like discharge and days from her period as to when she is ovulating. there is apparantly only 2 days a month when a woman can get pregnant - the trouble is, knowing when they are and also, that sperm can stay alive in the uterus for i think 3 days

there are more than two days that a woman can get pregnant and the rhythm method is not 85% effective. (http://www.niehs.nih.gov/oc/news/2fertil.htm http://kidshealth.org/teen/sexual_health/contraception/bc_chart.html ) The major problem is practicing the method correctly, but it's also nowhere near failsafe otherwise. Not to mention you have to restrain yourself for many days + the days you're probably not having sex during the period. I think there's a definite danger in promoting the rhythm method on a board mostly used by teens and 20-year-olds...

There are plenty of practicing catholics who use birth control. I don't know for a fact, but possibly the majority of them in the western world.

    oh no!!

im assuming practising catholics wont be having sex before marriage!! im by no means promoting no contraception to unwed teens.

im referring to once someone IS married in the catholic faith. although many catholics DO use birth control, and many DO have sex beofre marriage, the Catholic church is strongly against both of these

in Catholicism, the rhythm method is the only way of contraception:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billings_ovulation_method is about 97-100% successful if properly done.

otherwise "FA users can achieve a 98.9% effectiveness rate under ideal conditions.
FA users who break one or more rules will average 93.5% effectiveness rate. "
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fertility_Awareness_Method

to unwed teens though - please DO NOT rely on these methods as they are difficult.

i would only recommend to practicing, married catholics under the advice of a medical professional

She didn't ask for a debate on her moral stance!

This sounds sort of childish, and I don't know it if wouldn't just tear, but if you wanted to enhance your sexual experience with a condom of some sort, could you not in some way ruin its contraceptive protection, maybe make a pinhole in the top or something? I know very little about the rules or if that would even work, but it wouldn't count as using a contraceptive.

the idea behind 'going bareback' (eg the pill or natural family planning or IUD) is that you are in a long term stable monogamous relationship, and have been both checked and cleared

novelty condoms like tingle arent really sex toys. theire primary use is still for contraception, the companys just market them as pleasurable so more people use them. you cant really compare them to viagra and catholic men using this drug, as the drug doesnt prevent conception, it simply stimulates a man. so if youre catholic and do not believe in the use of contraception, then following through you shouldnt be using these condoms!

They are definitely not toys, they're another good way of preventing pregnancy. By extra fun do you mean oral sex, or do you mean having penetrative sex with him using a ribbed condom? In that case you are going against your beliefs, however most of the catholic church do now accept the use of condoms as a preventative measure against disease.
Questions must be raised such as what is realistic in society today and surely a religion encouraging wellbeing in society should agree that condoms are now an almost essential part of life. To be honest I can't quite fathom why it's wrong to stop sperm entering a vagina, as even if you are married, it's far from ideal to be constantly pregnant! I think not being able to cope with or bring up the children in a loving environment is far worse than using contraception.

You are being misleading Shinytoy. Please get your facts straight about your own religion!
According to the Catholic Church, sex should only take place as a means of reproduction within a marriage. Pleasure is only a consequence. According to the Catholic church, you should not have "escaping pregnancy" on your mind. Therefore, ALL methods of contraception are wrong, incuding the Rhythm method.

Of course, even though I am a Catholic, I don't believe in what the Church teaches, just stating it for your information.
