Ive done that too, did it last year, was walking out on this walkway to the massive fountain thing and slipped in, wasnt my fault though, I was slightly drunk, luckily some friends pulled me out.
Geneva's really nice, bit expensive though. When I visited I was on a physics trip to CERN, however only spent about 4 hours there out of the two days, spent the rest of the time wandering round geneva, and meeting some pissed american bloke in a park at 10pm and the entire group playing him at chess, despite the fact we were all crap at it. Ahhh good times...
hehe...I love hearing other people's stories about geneva - always seems strange that other people have been here, for some reason.
Must admit, I've never fallen into the lake, although that fountain (the Jet d'eau) has completely soaked me on numerous occasions, usually when the wind has changed unexpectedly whilst I'm showing friends around.
It's true that Geneva's expensive. Generally, this is my excuse for not going out anywhere ever (or indeed, for getting my parents to pay for me to go out anywhere).
And the chess boards...me and my friend where playing there one evening and this group of old guys came and stood around us giving us tips or just making comments. Very embarrasing (especially as neither of us can play for toffee!)

Oh yer the old dudes, they kept on coming over and giving us tips, and kept on watching us whilst we were playing. Was quite funny when I knew the move I was making was stupid but couldnt think of another one, and then one came over and said 'non, non, you move the bishop here, see?'.
I also remember this park/playground we found wich had this really cool roundabout that you could go really fast on, I know it sounds sad, but we liked it . On one side of the park/playground there were railings and like a really steep bank/cliff down to a road. Do you know which one i mean?
Hmm, maybe I'll change mine too... but then no-one would know who I was! :O I like 'Sweet Transvestite' as well, and the big song at the end. I actually just love all the songs, to be honest. We should start a Rocky Horror club at Cam
hehe! Actually that's a good point... but if I put 'aka bethany' or something in my sig it will kind of defeat the object. ah well I love 'Sweet Transvestite' it's so fun! o yeah and the song at the end's good too. I developed a craze on Meatloaf as well after listening to 'Hot Patootie'! We should - just got a mental image of loads of Cambridge students doing the Time Warp

Yay another potential Newnhamite! Yep I'm nervous but if I'm going to make the transition from home to uni, I'd rather make it to Cambridge and Newnham than anywhere else Bit nervous about the workload due to my laziness but I love English and it's the one thing I've never had a problem with working in, so should be ok.
I can't wait to go to uni... right now would be good School's ok-ish but I've been at the same one for almost 14 years now, I really need a change!! Knowing that it's Cambridge makes me want to go even more - it's only half an hour away by car anyway so it's not like a major step into the unknown

:dito: well I haven't been to the same school for 14 years but I *am* awesomely bored of college, I'd much rather get started on the English course!
Same Although, I had a look at the reading list for New Hall and discovered I'll need to read quite a lot of hefty tomes before I even start - not that I'm complaining, but I just get the feeling I'm not going to be going out much this summer!
Picture...here's me...a nice one, and then just the average party one...(sitting with my best mate - the guy lol) i.e im the girl! Then a few of my friends...

Same here. Ive been at my school since year 7 , and I am so glad this year is my final year, i like my school but i am dying for some sort of change! Also school work is getting annoying, its like i dont enjoy any of my essay questions anymore, all of which are dull and only constructed to please the examiners. --------------------------------------------------------------- I am a little scared about going to uni, when i think about it i worry a bit, but i am thinking its going to hit me around september, then i will be scared! Honestly though i am more worried about getting the grades..

where did you get the reading list from? Does every college have a different reading list?
My mother found it for me on the New Hall website - Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, Villette, Bleak House, Great Expectations, Adam Bede, The Mill on the Floss, The Moonstone and The Woman in White are all likely to be studied in my first four weeks!

I will only ever do English Literature at A-level- but that seems like so much..

That sounds brilliant 6 of my favourite books there! It varies from college to college though doesn't it - wonder if Newnham's are available for viewing somewhere. Though if I don't get myself off the bloody internet and do my myriad homeworks and courseworks I'll never get to Newnham Due to my awesome lack of self control am even contemplating doing that thing where you ask TSR admin to ban you... except I'm worried I'd scare myself with the extent of my addiction by asking to use my friend's account or something
I am not even half way through my comparative essay and its due in a day !
I have 2 pages of questions on pure economic loss and psychiatric harm - officially the most boring topics OF ALL TIME -plus decent chunks of English and French c/w and a history homework, all for tomorrow. I haven't started. & my mum's threatening to smash my laptop if I don't stop 'being trivial' on it all the time Yep, sometimes I baffle myself ... Good luck with the comparative essay

oh dont get me started... i have 4 essays due for the beginning of next week and just cant get the freggin nerve to sit down and do it oh, i take the occasion to throw a big loud message, because i quite like to keep a list of members, but its so time consuming to go search for them all that i figured
If you want your name to appear in the members list, then PM me your username and college. If your college doesn't have a colour yet, PM me the colour and you'll be official colourgiver. If it's not available or sum1 has already done it before... well sorry

I am comparing the return of the native, and confusions by Ayckbourn sooo boring and tedious! Good luck with your work, you have so much of it!
