Are these the only exams you do for your advanced highers??

The only big exams, yeah.
We have NABs, which are mostly C-level, which we just have to pass. If we fail a certain number of times (2? 3? not too sure precisely what), we're not allowed to sit the final exam. But the marks we get in the NABs don't count towards our final grade in any way. The final grade is based just on these single exams (or, in certain cases, these exams + coursework, e.g. our investigations for fiz/chem/bio...:frown: )

schools have may balls? this is entirely new to me. but then i do come from edmonton.

our leavers party was legendary - invade the world's end pub in camden and have the night of your lives
im well gutted cos im not even on the same continent as u, my fellow scots, when the results come out. joy. mind u they either had to come out on the 8th or on my 18th birthday...so it could have been worse i suppose. im just imagining it now tho...liz is in the airport...mum phones and says ur results arrived two days ago !! and a letter came from edinburgh (my insurance) too, why r they writing to u? and ill be like :frown: nooooooooooooooo.

sorry we're meant to be talking about happy things aren't we? the babystoppenpillen comment above made me laugh a LOT ... but also alarmed me in that i am very disturbed that contraception is the sort of thing u discuss in an a-level german oral. my frenchie friends talked about women in the workplace in theirs. but then i do attend a school where contraception= abstinence and NOTHING ELSE. (ever, or else).

Yay special leaving party talk  I got my dress for prom last weekend, I think I'm actually in love.
Loocy i know what you mean!!

Mine's like a marilyn monroe style cut, made of black chiffron and sparkly black jewels under the boobs - so beautiful....and so so happy! Have my fake tan tomorrow and omg...im so excited, just did my facial etc.!

Only bad thing is...after may ball all my friends leave (IB students) as they've finished their exams and go back to their own countries whilst I stay on with only like 20 students to do A-levels :frown:

Still...may ball should be amaaaazing!

I think she was talking about AIDS, which makes sense I guess.

I'm going to be away for my results as well (in Borneo), I don't get back until 2 days after. So yeah, I'm dreading a similar conversation on the phone - and also being out of phone-contact so I can't ring-and-plead if necessary.

Our last day of school is a week tomorrow  and we're organising our Muck Up Day (do other people call it that?? It's where you decorate the school and wear silly costumes and cry a lot.) My preferred theme of Pirates was out-voted :nn:, but we're going with Wild West which should be fun also.

Yeah we call it that, we all come in fancy dress. Last year someone built a Stonehenge on our lawn and this year there is talk of releasing sheep into school numbered 1, 2 & 4 so that everyone looks for the 3rd. I think we decided we didn't want the sheep to end up in the river or under a car though! I'm going to choose my fancy dress costume tomorrow so I'm really excited!! We're having a barbecue and drinks after school with our teachers, which might be a bit akward!

Wooo had my last day of school today, although i have to go in for prize day and THE last day of school where we basically piss about. Its so weird to know I will never have another lesson at school  . Bloody good feeling but still weird :p:. Went to the pub at lunch and fortunately didnt get caught altho was slightly tipsy when playing tennis in the afternoon.

Oh well im now on holiday study leave so i am meant to do some work apparently. But there are 1051.23 things more interesting than revision and past papers, oh well im sure i'll manage to motivate myself eventually.

Gd luck with all your exams guys, especially the scots who have their's st the moment
i still dont have a prom dress and my prom is two weeks 2moro. oh dear  u dress sounds bootiful lici, hope u have a good time!

we didnt have a muck up day, just a day where no-one went to classes, we all signed each other's shirts, then went to this recollection thing then had a buffet thing with the teachers. and cried. A LOT. twas a sad day but really nice as well.

fair enough with the friend talking about AIDs parsley  that does make more sense.

gd luck to all the scots sitting smelly adv higher maths 2moro. ill be thinking about u while im getting a yellow fever jab (see...it could be worse!)

Argh maths exam in an hour and a half. :frown: I have a feeling I should be a lot more nervous/scared and be desperately last-minute cramming, instead I'm on TSR and eating Petits Filous very calmly. I wonder when the panic will set in..
Thanks Liz...only a few hours now!!

I have lessons until the 25th...but have finished history (had my exams too) so that feels weird. Yellow fever jab ooowwww...i hate injections, they had to give me a quick course last summer where i got Jap. Emphi type thing, Dengue Fever, Yellow fever, MMR, Tetanus, Typhoid and some other one in 4 weeks, bloody awful...i ended up in hospital suffering from Jap. Emp and Mumps because my immune system couldnt cope - so not happy!!

We dont really do any crazy stuff on our last day...the may ball we go all out and crazy...the general idea is 3 days sans sleep! Not sure i;ll hack it as i was at the airport until 3am picking up friends...lol....wish me luck!
Loocy: please tell me you found maths a living nightmare as well as Duke Flipside and I, and all of our AH maths class? What a bloody joke - lets hear it for the SQA and their exemplary exam consistency.

Yes :frown: The proof questions were disgusting and horrible and appalling. And, eh, sequences and series? I mean... my 'expression' for the sum to n terms was the longest, stupidest looking thing I've ever seen, and I've just realised I somehow managed to get the formula for the sum to infinity wrong for the last part.

The one I DID like was the last question, as it was a 'show that this equals this' one so I know I got it right. But it was just so unlike past papers it was silly. And I had the pleasure on leaving the exam of being explained to by a guy in my class about all the questions I got wrong. Bah.
Yay, 'twasn't only us who hated it. Lousy SQA/singing people/useless teacher/invigilator, why I oughta...

I left the label on the bottle of water I took into an exam with me yesterday. One of the invigilators looked at me like I'd murdered somebody when he saw it and went on to attack it with a pair of scissors.

I'm sure you all did OK in your maths exam. I always come out of them thinking I've failed if that's any consolation...

Singing people? You were serenaded?

There were a crowd of second years apparently having a fight outside the exam room door about half an hour in, which was great. One of them kept shouting rape and then laughing like it was the funniest thing he'd ever said. Hilarious stuff, right there.

I've never taken the label off my bottles of water, without incident
poor u guys. it sounds icky. if its any consolation my advcer friends at school thought it was a nasty piece of work as well. they'll lower a marks and pass marks and the such tho if everyone has done badly. and to echo what aired said i am always perpetually convinced ive failed an exam when i come out of it. im becoming more and more concerned about ye olde adv higher bio and chem tho since adv english was a beast, music apparently was hard and maths clearly was evil. je suis concerned that all of the advanced highers aare going to be very and extremely difficult. hmm.
I hope you all did better than you think with maths, but we've descended into exam gloom again! Anyone doing anything exciting (i.e. anything but revision!)? Our leavers' ball was last night and was fab:
Dancing biology teacher: "Sarah!"
Me: "What?"
Dancing biology teacher: "Biology rocks!" *swivels and points fingers like Elvis*
