Should work now. I'd somehow managed to introduce a space into the link.

Nice! I need 190 from FP2, FP3 and S2. Shouldn't be too demanding (famous last words  ). How come you're only doing two modules this time? How many did you do in Jan?

Im doing S2 aswell! However I didnt certificate my A-level maths last year so I can module switch meaning it doesn't matter how I do in S2, all it will affect is my UMS in my normal A-level, but I'll still get an A. I love the module switching system :p:.

I may have to revise properly for FP3 though, cant remember any of the de moivre's stuff and we were meant to self-teach groups, but instead I spent the lesson time pissing about, even played poker once  :p:

Here's an alternative link, it gives you the boundaries going back to 2000 - http://s9.invisionfree.com/step_prep_2006/index.php?showtopic=63&st=0&

Essentially, 4 good answers will probably get you a 1. The boundaries are usually a bit lower on STEP III - 15/20 on 4 questions would have got you a 1 on that most years, whereas on STEP II you would have needed about 17/20 on 4 questions. Also, my friend went on a STEP study school in Cambridge at Easter, and they told them that anyone with a 1,1 offer who got a 1,2 would be phenomenally unlucky not to get in, although it might be at a different college.

FP3 is fine, proof by induction is lovely and the matrix questions are rarely too terrifying. Its FP2 you want to watch out for - I'm doing it in about a fortnight. Only M2 and S2 this week, and I got 100% on a practice M2 paper yesterday so I'm not too paniced. M3 a week on Monday is the real terror for me, it starts actually needing proper mechanical intuition as well as pure maths skills, which is where I fall down. I can rarely do mechanics STEP questions for that reason.

FP3 does stink. I haven't got a clue about groups or most of the vectors stuff. De Moivre is actually quite easy once you get the hang of it.
Just done some of my own calculations and manipulation and turns out I need 97 from FP2 and FP3. It's great!

With OCR, induction and matrices are on FP1. FP1 is fun . FP3 is the one to watch out for (for me anyway).

For STEP, do you have a go at the Mechanics and Stats questions as well as the Pure?
Reply 2287
thanks wanderer! thats reassuring to know! in mocks ive never achieved better than 4 perfect answers, so i know i can just make it if im really lucky! cheers
Good luck...but do I mean that? Bloody STEP :p:

I stick with pure when it comes to STEP III now, had too many incidents with STEP III mechanics. STEP II, hopefully I won't need to look at the mechanics, depends if enough questions suit me, which looking back at past papers, can really bloomin vary from year to year.

yea pure in step is the safest route - im rubbish at applied maths!

I hope you all stayed til the end of the credits to watch the mini-scene that was stuck in right at the end - Xavier is still alive! (I believe he's in the body of the man that you see earlier in the film that doesn't have a mind, although I can't be certain as all you hear is xaviers voice and a girl looking at him while he's offscreen.

You serious!! Noooooooooooooooooooooo!! We left when credits started..damn it.

Yeah hair is now phoenix red/violet - and no i didnt read the books, i'd love another Xmen - i think the stories are good!

Same here, I don't even look at the mech or stats questions in STEP III. Having said that, I do the same in STEP II .
The pure questions on STEP II, on the past papers, I usually get out about 4/5. But that's with no time constraints. Some of the blighters take a loooong time! STEP III is still touch and go, although on the 2004 paper I managed 3 questions. Hopefully that should be enough to get a 2 this year.

I would've gone before the credits as well but the guy taking our tickets was nice enough to tell us that we should stay - we took his word for it and did so.

On the STEP front, I've done no work towards my STEP I. I reckon I'll have enough practice by the time that I take it though... In fact, I don't even know why I'm posting in here cause I'm still in lower 6th, and apply next term.

(go back a couple of pages if this makes no sense... I am not just randomly dreaming about biscuits... well, maybe, but that's not the point! :p: )
....can people stop doing that, it gets me all excited.
