It's even hot in SCOTLAND. Miracle. And it's meant to be even hotter tomorrow and Wednesday. :O By tomorrow I mean today, obviously.. stupid holiday sleeping pattern...

Two more hours and I'll have been awake for a full 24...
I was wandering around in a t-shirt at 4am this morning. That's just how warm it is!

Am i the only person that's loving the heat? Being quarterly-caste, i tan very easily... but lose it very easily too! I guess living in mauritius for 6 months kinda puts this "heat wave" into a different perspective for me!

I feel sorry for those people who spend hours outside in their garden trying to get a tan, and nothing happens! Although i tend to find girls who have that quality very attractive.... must be the posh Victorian blood in me!

Great to see **noooni**s back! shes the most friendliest ever, except for friendlyneutron, for obvious reasons...

I think my room has turned into a big oven. It's horrible. On the brighter side, I'm having a barbeque today  Just like every other person on my street, it seems.

hehehe, i second that. it's nice walking round at night when it's all dry and warm, we went out for hours yesterday, me mam thought we'd walked to sunderland...
Catching buses in hot weather - eurgh! I am sure noone ever considered it might actually be hot when they designed Nottingham's buses. Oh well, at least Mum's not using the Bugmobile tonight, so I can drive it to my friend's tonight with the windows down - should be cooler than a bus!

Anyway, am going to Scotland tomorrow evening - probably not many buses where we're going, although have been warned against midge hoardes. :frown: Am sure the midge bites will look great on my sunburnt skin. (I always seem to get sunburnt, no matter how much lotion I put on - and I never tan except on my arms :frown: )
Eurgh, just got back from holiday to find that the only acceptable thing to do is to lie down in a darkened room and try not to move too much.

i've been taking vitamin B1 in preparation for my holidays, it's supposed to make you taste nasty for the wee beesties

Everyone else who looks pasty all year round - I feel your pain :frown: Infact, my legs actually reflect sunlight.
This means that if i want to achieve that healthy glow I have to ritually cover myself in Johnsons Holiday Skin each night. This is both time consuming and unappealing, making one smell like a vegetable.

Hence the fact I am now a nice chalky colour

Although..... since my body has no grasp of Homeostasis (it really is CRUD people. I have no circulation in the winter and all my extremities go white and nearly fall off) I dont sweat that much or get hot and bothered. So it is kind of advantageous being strange, even though I can still complain with the best of them

WE BRITS ARENT BUILT FOR THE HEAT! :hmpf:

Was enjoying it whilst walking in it for about 6 or 7 hours today, but I was half submerged in my thoughts. Feeling the pain of it now though, whoever said about the darkened room got it right.

I'm not sunburnt (at least I don't think I am), just felt bloody exhausted when i got home, maybe a touch of sunstroke.

(sorry if this sounds like advertising, but cant resist!)

Whilst we are on the grand subject of weather, especially our current "heat wave", it reminded me of a very good (and short!) book i read recently - "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho. Its set mostly in the Sahara although starts in Spain - hence the connection with heat! The book is an absolute gem, a diamond in the rough! Definitely best read whilst listening to some vocal-less music: it really helped my escape from the huge mess that is my life! And the book told me many an important lesson (dont worry its not preachful - even though the main character is a spanish boy sheperd).

If you get the chance, read it this summer, its only about 170 medium sized pages long, and easily readable during a long journey.

I have a feeling im going to eget in trouble with this post...

Haha, El alquimista, I'm reading it in Spanish at the moment! Can't believe someone mentioned it!

Oh, and I'm not a successful applicant from 2006. Sorry.

*shuffles off out of the thread* :getmecoat
