I'll get hold of a copy  oo I was meaning to watch that film anyway - and my mum keeps buying everything with Emma Thompson in, I think it's partly cos she went to Newnham

My mum was actually at Newnham with Emma Thompson - but she told me that she was scared of her!! hehe, I always find that funny...:p:

I'm actually reading Remains of the Day right now - definitely good. I didn't think I'd be interested, given the subject matter, but it's really well written, so... Yes - you must try it.

Best Ben & Jerry's flavours have to be Chubby Hubby, Cookie Dough and Vanilla Caramel Fudge though!

 I totally agree! hehe! Ben&Jerry's come a close second to Haagen Dazs in my mind, although when I'm in a certain mood their Cookie Dough one can beat the former... None of my local supermarkets sell cookie dough on its own like the American thing so I just get the icecream :p:
I always dig out the cookie dough chunks and leave the crappy vanilla for the next chump :P

Wow ! Yeah I'd imagine she was a bit formidable!

Well with two strong recommendations it is definitely on my to buy list for tomorrow. Along with lots of clothes and stuff, I love shopping

I quite like 'Atonement' in places  It's all the others I can't stand

You love to cook? Right you're the kind of person I want at my college :p: I am a pathetic cook and useless at looking after myself so my plan is to meet lots of people who are the opposite  Then tricking them into not noticing they're doing all the work for two... mwahaha

Wouldn't mind actually - I quite like cooking for other people. My parent's have me on their cooking rota now - two meals a week could by yours truly at least. Just so long as you don't mind vegeterian most of the time. Well, I'm supposed to be vegetarian but my mum convinced me that I need to eat meat once a week at least to avoid getting sick before exams. And anyway, a good cook always tastes the food they cook, otherwise you never know if people are lying to you or not...

Same here! The problem I have with Cookies and Cream and Cookie Dough is that I end up eating so much without realising, because I'm so intent on finding the next line of cookies/dough - it's like digging for gold :p: Nearly anyway... meh rubbish analogy but never mind  Although in Cookies and Cream the vanilla is SO good, I think maybe even better than Ben & Jerry's... *mulls it over*

<<We're studying 'Hamlet' for A Level so going to see a production in London soon >>

ditto, it's probably the same production

Ahhh small world... we're going on March 15th.

Damn you're so lucky! Bryllyg gets to study 'Hamlet' too, wish it were my next text! I did 'Othello' with Blake ( ) but that was in January... oh well I'll probably have to retake it anyway No more Shakespeare on my A level course I'm doing a self choice coursework atm ('Jane Eyre' and 'Sons and Lovers') then a WW1 synoptic paper.

& re an earlier comment on Haagen Dazs, I salute your choice Best brand... I'd go for Cookies and Cream, strawberry cheesecake or Belgian Choc flavours though. Yum!

Othello's a fantastic play... we did As You Like It last year, wish I could have replaced that with Othello! I'm not too keen on the comedies. Macbeth has to be my favourite - along with King Lear - and I'm NOT superstitious so I'm happy to say it lots of times (even in the theatre) to freak out all you people who are :p: Macbeth Macbeth Macbeth.

Belgian Choc flavour oh yes! I make sure we only have Vanilla so I'm not too tempted (yeah and that's reaaaaally working... not). For ice cream, though, cannot beat Ben&Jerry's cookie dough. I have no will power whatsoever when it comes to that.

Well I quite like being cooked for, sounds perfect :p: To be fair I'm always willing to have a go, I'm just lousy  I can make the basics like pasta, eggs and some cakes, but go fancier and I self destruct... I had SO much fun in HE but my teacher hated me a little bit. Everyone agreed I was the most entertaining member of the class though  ha

Well considering I am in almost the exact same position as you there, not really - I became a vegetarian about 4 years ago but I get heavily anaemic and ill quite easily so am eating spag bol once a week at the moment.

We did 'Much Ado About Nothing' last year which I do really love. Ideally though I would've liked to do 'Othello' and 'Hamlet', or maybe 'Richard 111'. I like the comedies but I prefer the tragedies and histories, there's more to get your teeth into imo! hehe! Macbeth isn't my favourite but is up there amongst them. King Lear is absolutely amazing but depresses me a bit. haha you can't freak me out, I'm not superstitious either :p: I love the :p: faces they're so funny :p:

Mmmmm.... *is tempted to go out and buy icecream* I have no willpower, full stop.

Has anyone seen the Reduced Shakespeare Company do the whole collection of Shakespeare in 1 go? They came to our school and were fantastic. People studying English were a little shocked by what many considered sacrilige (sp?) but scientists like myself were most amused. Was very educational actually!

Seeing as I haven't read 'Much Ado...' I suppose it's unfair of me to dismiss the comedies, since I've heard that's meant to be the best one...

I've been vegetarian for three years and it hasn't seemed to affect me health-wise at all - if it does I'm in trouble because there's no way I'll ever go back to eating meat! I do eat fish sometimes though so I guess I'm a cheat

I study English and I didn't find it offensive! Has to be one of the funniest things I've ever seen.... especially when they did Hamlet in about 8 seconds, backwards.

damn you people and ur talk of ice cream! i want some now :frown:

we did othello last year for higher but we had a craaazeee teacher who used to shout at u when u wrote practise essays by urself at home
I loved it. The football match with King Lear being sent off for being a fictional king was funny. They came back to Lancaster last year with 100 Greatest Books and that was possibly even better. *suchabook, life is overrated, anotherbook, success is overrated, Harry Potter, just overrated*. lol.

saw it in 11th grade with a group of drama students - we all thought it was hilarious. I keep telling my mum she has to see it (she's an English teacher), but we haven't got around to it yet...

I didn't have any problems until a few months ago (I've been vegetarian for several years too), but I had a whole bunch of medical problems and my doctor wasn't too pleased when he found out I'm vegetarian and he kept pulling faces whenever I went to see him, so...anyway, I'm veggie because I don't really like meat rather than for ethical reasons, so it's not too bad. Still, I have to admit that eating meat now does make me feel kind of sick - and I can't eat very much! I suppose my body's just not used to it now.
sarahliz12345 and panda11: I want to see those Shakespeare things they sound great !

Yes 'Much Ado' is excellent, you should read/see it ! I actually quite really the film version with Kenneth Branagh, though nothing quite beats the theatre. That said anything beats the first production I saw of 'Much Ado' with college it was lousy :bawling:

I never liked many meats anyway. Anaemia can be a bit of a problem though - incidentally anyone know of any *edible* iron rich foods? Don't get me started on the ickiness of watercress

OMG I love Much Ado.

By the way, all you Shakespeare fanatics! Good news for you.. there's a 'Cambridge Shakespeare Festival' on every year which is very good. Basically 8 or so Shakespeare plays are performed either open-air (I went to see Macbeth last year in Downing College gardens) or inside (Much Ado I saw in Emmanuel). It's a lot of fun, especially when outdoors. Because then people bring picnics and stuff and we just lie down and watch. It's cool.

"What about Lord of the Rings, or The Communist Manifesto?!"

"We decided not to include works of fantasy."
