Ah, but have you seen the new one? Because I was absolutely adamant that it couldn't possibly as good, that it would be a poor imitation, that nothing could ever match the BBC version, that no one could be Mr. Darcy like Colin Firth. The I went and saw it. It was a) surprisingly different, and b)surprisingly good.

I'm looking forward to never, ever writing a discursive essay again, whether I get into Cam or not. I'm also really looking forward to meeting a load of new people, which is odd, because I'm not that outgoing. Bordering on shy, in fact.

I just feel like I'd be betraying Colin if I saw it!! I suppose there wouldn't be much scope for essays in maths would there? "Discuss the impact of pi on the western world" :p:

Yeah I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone (I mean everyone) - and if you're not outgoing then don't worry, I'll more than likely end up coming to talk to you at least - I have no dignity; the fear of embarrassing myself in public is something that i've become immune to :biggrin:

The new Darcy is charming in a very different way. And I feel moved to point out (in this and every other Cambridge-related conversation) that I am nowhere near as close to a guaranteed place as all the non-mathsy people.
