So many people in my school get into Oxbridge it's a so-so accomplishment. Only 2 people in my chemistry class DIDN'T get in, and one of them just got into LSE for economics anyway too...

Im the only one in the history of my school, so its a big deal. Although thank god there was no picture in the newspaper

Haha - your school sounds like ours. After our GCSEs, the headmaster used the phrase "For the 30 of you that achieved 9 A*s or higher, congratulations on an excellent achievement - and nearly everyone else did fairly well..." in our welcome back assembly. Of course, we all hate him

apparently me getting an offer was the only interesting thing that has happened all year so it's been in the paper. twice. it's too embarrassing for words, even worse when my mam thinks it's brilliant and carries the articles round in her handbag to whip out at a moment's notice.

:frown:

i don't like it.

My dads the worst, anyone i meet seems to have been told by him before i meet them!

Wow you guys go to some amazing schools, me and a girl got into oxbridge this year ( very rare to even get one in) and the head of sixth form wants me to give talks to the lower years on how i managed it!!
We got on the front page of the local paper, one of the most useless publications in history. We all told them exactly what we were going to study - they went round us each individually and wrote it down - and they promptly reported that the two of us doing maths were doing physical sciences.

im the only one who applied from my school. although admittedly it is a really good school, oxbridge just really isnt the done thing. but i had to talk to people in fifth year (year below) about applying. which was a laugh. i spent most of my time telling them not to follow my example since i did just about everything u shouldnt do when u apply and trying to convince the two tht wanted to go to oxford that cambridge was far superior
dum de dum
how are my fellow cambridge peeps? i havent come on here for AGES

Other natsci..? Gandhi, and not Troon, I presume?
How could Gandhi say that? He needs an A! Hehehe.
But then again, he's a maths god...:frown:

Mr. Ball was talking about CHEMISTRY! And he is a maths god, lol.

It's more of a gang of people who got into Cambridge at our school; it's not really that big a deal. Among the pupils at least. A couple of the staff members are obsessive about people DEFINITELY DEFINITELY putting Cam as their firm, which is unfair and effing annoying for the people concerned.

But if it sways our mutual friend (...in the desired direction, though it could have the other effect I suppose), are you going to complain..?

Yeah, Cambo isn't such a big deal...although when Oliver was on the school definitely did take every opportunity to broadcast the fact I was absent for a Cam interview...Probably because it is important to let all those fee-paying parents know just how normal Oxbridge is for our school

two weeks for me. Actually, nine days in school left now - it's wierd. All our teachers are panicking about our work and everything but none of us (or at least, none of my friends) can be bothered.

i was really worrying about english but i got an essay back i did last week, which wasnt even particularly spectacular and i got 29/30 so ive got some well needed confidence lol

32 more days of teaching for us. I've been crossing them off since day 57. I cannot believe that time could pass any more slowly.

I know exactly what you mean. The amount of time people have gone, "Mata, want to skive this lesson?" is criminal. The amount of times I've actually skived is even worse.

You'd think we'd care but its just a state of exhaustion combined with apathy combined with mild resentment towards school.

College is starting to get really boring for me as well. My lessons are starting to annoy me. We were doing Born-Haber cycles today in chemistry and everybody was like "wait, why are there two different ways to get to the end, surely you only need one? Why are we learning about that pathway if it doesn't actually happen? What does atomisation mean again? Born-what cycle??"

I'm not necessarily more clever or knowledgable than my class mates, i just seem to be a little bit sharper off the mark if you know what i'm saying...that does frustrate me sometimes. going over concepts for the third time when i got it the first..

I'm glad someone else thinks this sometimes! We did photosynthesis about 3 times in bio. A lot of people seem just completely bored with school in general now though, especially as the weather's improving! We have 27 days left.
