*que theme tune from cheers*

hehe love that programme  Ever seen 'Frasier'?
I've seen it a few times but I've never really gotten into it! I should though, it's fab  Something other than work; what tv programmes do you all watch? When I actually get the time to watch tv, I love House (is it wrong to want to do unspeakable things to Hugh Laurie?), ER, Desp Housewives, Scrubs and *coughtheO.C.cough*

I LOVE House, really really want the boxset of the first season but I have no moneys :frown: And the OC's getting better at the moment after a crappo start to the third season, I think, although I keep missing episodes so I can't follow any of it.

I know. :frown: Especially the Jeremy Kyle Show during the day.. we have TV screens in our cafeteria at school which just show it all the time, all of my 'study periods' have been wasted this way, sadly.

hello there
what are you doing on at 2 30 am  ? don't you people have school?

Nah broke up last week, my school broke up a week earlier than most. 2.30 am is early for me anyways, my preffered sleeping pattern is 5am-1.40pm (get up just in time fore neighbours :p: )

WOW, rpotter

How did you get a two a-level offer??

I did my maths A-level a year early so only need 2 As from the three that Im doing this year

I was really surprised that there's no calculus in A Level fiz - won't a lot of people suffer a bit when they start uni?

Yup, thats why im annoyed at Physics A-level, will mean they'll probably have to teach the relevant maths at the start of the course to get everyone up to speed

Edit: really wish they would automerge doubleposts like they used to before we got the new server

Considering that A level Mathematics is "essential" in order to study the Physical Sciences at Cam, I shouldn't worry about it.

Not everyone will have done further though

Yes, but I hope you're not suggesting that F Maths should be an integral part of the Phys A level.

My friend's at Cambridge doing Phys Nat Sci. He did F Maths, and even so is struggling with the maths now. I wouldn't worry overmuch that you'll be twiddling your thumbs in lectures.
A lot of the stuff in Further seems to be the kind of thing physicists would use - all those lovely matrices and vectors. Perhaps not polar co-ordinates or proof by induction.

Hahaha, the Jeremy Kyle show is so funny. Half the people you see on it look like characters from bo selecta or something.

Lol, admittedly they are bastards and I hate them because its really easy to make silly mistakes but they are really really useful!

Good pun in the first sentence  .

Im not worrying about twiddling my thumbs in lectures, more worried for those that havent done further maths, one of the lecturers told me when I was at the open day that they do the further maths course in two or three weeks! Maybe that was an exaggeration, but still...

However im more worried about the mechanics side of things, my school wouldnt let me do M3, so ive only really done basic mechanics so I am worried about having to catch up with it, especialy as most of the phys natscis with offers ive spoken to seem to have at least M3 (of those doing further maths which is probably about 50% of the physicists). Will probably leanr M3 and M4 over the summer though.

Anyways just realised the grand prix is on this morning! Dont ussually watch it, because im not ussually up in time, but as its the hols I am, but im gonna go and see what time its on, probably pretty soon. Anyone else up and gonna watch it?

But Jeremy sorts them all out with his hard-talking, tell it like it is attitude!

Ugh vectors and matrices.. I really should start paying attention in maths, I think the scalar triple formula or whatever it's called has gone right in one ear and out the other..
