UCL Offers 2006

Scroll to see replies

One thing everyone: when you get reading lists, don't go crazy about them. The reading lists are there to expose you to the kind of thinking and though processes of a subject (rather than core content usually).

Also, it's good to have a lot of life outside of books. You don't have many free summers left... use them for what they are worth

I for one would definitely not go crazy about a reading list; I kind of need it early so I have more time to force myself to read the books.

President Ben, I can assure you, Ludivine is not the kind of girl that goes crazy over a reading list

There something going on between you two that you'd like to tell us about?

Well done Eidothea! Join the crew!
What's your language btw? and did UCL specify which subjects they want A's in?

Thanks FarEastGerman and tailindil. Well done on your offers too! Hopefully I'll see you guys this September (which is really soon!!), if I get those 3As that is. *fingers crossed*
I'll have to get As in Spanish, History and Politics.
I'll be mayoring in Spanish and a minor in Italian if they allow me.
Btw, can anyone direct me to the reading lists?
Hey FarEastGerman!!

I got an offer from UCL!! I just joined the Student Room a while ago, and I saw your UCL offers thread

So, here are the details:

Course Name: Economics (I love it!!)
Offer: AAA
Offer Details: specifically an A for Mathematics (easy peasy lol) and anything else an A
Oh well done for getting into economics, not the easiest of subjects competition-wise I hear! Nice one!

By The Way, i'm guessing from your name that you too are an oxford 'rejectee'? You're certainly not the only one if you are!
Just got offer for Psych - ABB and pass in A/S!
Most likely gonna be my firm choice.
well done blahblah08!! Did u hace an interview - if so, when?
Also isnt he usual Psych offer AAB - how come ures is lower??

Well, I was rejected from UCL today. I had applied for Psychology and my predicted grades were AAB, so I don't know why I didn't get an offer. I suppose my personal statement must have been too weak or something like that. But I am quite happy about going to Royal Holloway, too!
Good luck to anyone who is still waiting for a reply from UCL! I hope you get your offers!!!

Hey party poop haha Didn't get an interview - am a intl student outside the EU. Yeah, I found the lower offer abit strange too. The wierd thing is, I do Math Psych and Eng Lang for A2 and well, I was predicted ABB (repectively) and they actually said the same thing in the conditions - subject to obtaining the grades A - Mathematics, B - Psychology, B - English Language and pass in A/S. Hmm... surprised they didn't ask for the A in Psych but it just looks like they copied and pasted my predicted grades or something.

Can't say it's the international thing that got my offers lower though, 2 people in my year who got offers for Psych also got an AAB offer :/ Maybe they just really wanted my $$.

Chemical engineering, probably take it as my insurance.
need three b's. Anyone else coming to ucl for chem eng?
Would it be possible to arrange the names on courses in the first post by subject instead of just alphabetically? - it would be more useful.
Thanks:smile:

Here's another future ESPSist!

I was having a horrible morning, I've got a hang-over and my parents are already driving me insane even though I'm only visiting home for a week and then it arrived... my offer letter! The admissions tutor says she'll be recommending me for the Faculty tutor and that the interviewer was impressed with my performance  The offer should be unconditional since I already did my exams a year ago, unless they make me do an English language test.

I've already called about 30 people. I'm so excited

tailindil
Congrats! See you next year !

I would really like to know who got in from my interview day...

For ESPS reading lists: I'd be willing to have a copy if anyone manages to get it.

I found a list for the first year core course: http://www.ucl.ac.uk/esps/courses/EHPPprelimreading.pdf
The list seems a bit long to me. I won't be going crazy over the reading list, but I'm keeping a gap year and honestly I miss studying so much that I'm going to read at least the ones that are marked highly recommended.
Well, well done Kismet! Although i think the 'impressed with performance' clause is a bit standard, I had exactly the same thing with either the UCL or Warwick offer letter. But yeah, not to discredit your ability!

To EamonnHF: i agree it's been hovering around my mind too to sort by subject or at least area. I always put it off as 'not enough offers listed yet, its too early'. Maybe i should get a grip and do it....
