Girls...What do you think of boxers (the sportsmen), do they turn you off?

When you date a guy and he says he's a boxer, would you be turned off by that? Be surprised how many girls actually think it makes the guy more aggressive, which is pure B.S! normal guys are 10x more likely to be involved in a domestic than a boxer is, because with a boxer, it's all about controlled aggression. Anyway, I am a boxer, but I'm only amateur at the moment, but I had some time out due to injury for a couple years, so I'm getting back into it and I may even turn pro if things work out. Girls only seem to think we're hot, have good bodies, and we are viewed as sexual objects, but when it comes to dating, I find it hard to go much further than lust. Don't get me wrong, it's great to know that girls find me attractive/hot, but my mates are all starting to settle down and get engaged, move in together etc, meanwhile I'm stuck with meeting girls and forming (non sexual) relationships.

I swear it's to do with the boxing. I mean the girls who find me attractive are not the girls I would be in a relationship with, whereas the girls I find attractive, both physically and mentally, they seem to want to stay away. Don't get me wrong, I'm not dumb and I could go to Uni if I wanted, but I'm bored of academics now and boxing has always been my passion.

What do I do? I'm going insane! lol.

A boxer (who's face isn't too messed) sounds almost perfect to me. I luuuurve boxing in general.
But I have two issues. 1. I really appreciate academics (although I know they're not mutually exclusive) 2. Boxing long term usually comes with health issues which isn't attractive-I don't want to be a relatively young widow :frown:
But then again, if he's great enough not to get hit too badly too often then that just makes him even more attractive..
And they tend to be more caring.

Either way, I believe everyone has someone made for them so you'll find 'that girl'.

Hope I answered your question (my concentration span wasn't long enough to read the whole post )

But surely the greater he is, the more likely the hits that he takes are going to be dangerous

I would just be scared every time he stepped into the ring that he was going to get seriously hurt, but I wouldn't be put off a guy just because he was a boxer. If anything it would be a plus.

I doubt you can make top even if you didn't have an injury. Anyway, you aren't even a boxer so I wouldn't worry OP. You should work on your confidence issues like height insecurities and the need to act tough.

Also, you probably are dumb hence why you can't find a girl that is attractive and smart. What job do you work at? as that's important. Even if you are hot, most hot girls with a bit of intelligence would probably try and get with a successful person i.e. with a good job, drives nice cars, wears nice clothes and has some sort of power. Yet you don't have neither and since you have no education behind you, then I don't see how you will obtain it.

That makes sense but doesn't if you get me lol
When you think of the greats, they have taken some of the worst hits ever but then surely, if you're the greatest, you shouldn't be hit that bad too often..?
Myeh, either way, I just wouldn't want any long term boxing related ailments to plague my partner lol

Not really. The greater the opponent the more powerful you gonna get hit. The average boxer is hit something like 90 times during a boxing match i.e. jabs and stuff during a fight.

Getting knocked out also causes many problems aswell.

youve been around the wrong girls, hun. I think its great that a guy has an outlet for his aggression, wants to compete and take care of themselves and other interests. Lots of my friends feel the same. Afre you sure youre not using the boxing as an excuse for other aspects of your personality? Be honest with yourself.

And just because your friends are moving fast, doesnt mean youre behind. You just need to find the right person x

My point is, hypothetically, if he was the greatest then he shouldn't get hit badly ie knocked out. Either way, he said it himself, OP's not so this isn't the issue in this case.

Me too. It would mean he had a great body, and was fit and on form. That's really attractive to me. I would just be worried about him getting a serious injury. I doesn't mean I would stop him from doing it one bit, the feeling would just be there!

My boyfriend is a climber and does some really terrifying stuff... He is really muscular and fit for it, but I worry that his equipment will fail and he'll fall. Don't tell him. :colondollar:

Climbing is actually a safe sport. It's stupid to worry about that, it's like worrying about airplanes crashing if your bf was a pilot.

He was in the papers when he was a teen once because he had to be rescued! His mum and dad told me about that one.

I mean I'm not very worried, it's just a thought that something could happen. He once went off on a four day climbing holiday in the Lakes and the last I heard from him until he came back was something like 'Off to do some really scary 200m climbs today!' I couldn't help it! :colondollar:

Maybe it's because I'm afraid of heights, and I found this out when he tried to get me into abseiling and dropped me off a cliff without telling me I was completely safe roped up and in my harness... :colondollar:

The connotations of boxing and climbing are quite different though. Boxing is a combat sport, it's aggressive, it's man vs. man, climbing is basically just pulling your way up a bunch of rocks - both are a great work out but in terms of how girls would perceive a guy, being a boxer has a lot of different facets.

Personally I have just been doing Muay Thai for about 2 months, ~3 times a week. Not had any amateur fights yet just sparring. That said I have already noticed that when I mention this to girls they see it as quite significant, a lot of them do seem to think it means you are an aggressive person.

In fact much more girls seem to see it that way, and as being a slight negative or something that you at least have to reassure them about, then do think it's hot and macho etc.

Don't mention you do Muay Thai, just say you do a martial arts. For some reason this gives a different view to most girls. I think it's because martial arts are seen as more of self defence.

Yeah that's true, I don't understand why girls think this way about boxing/combat sports but they seem to. Also, the girls I have been "involved" with are much more into my body/looks than the boxing side of it. They're definitely NOT the type of girls I would have a long term relationship with, as they're more inclined to go for looks over personality, whereas the type of girl I'm looking for is the opposite of that.

Would be interested to see a pic of your body. You go on about how good it looks a lot. :holmes:

1. Well I have confidence in my abilities as a boxer, so you can hate all you want.

2. I am not a pro boxer, no. I already said I was getting back into it, and I have another amateur fight in 3 weeks.

3. I don't have height insecurities and I have no need to act tough, and never have.

4. Funny, you say that I must be dumb, but you say "you probably are dumb" instead of "you are probably dumb" but I'm sure you're some high flying snob who gets all the supermodel girls, so I won't bother arguing with you, as you must obviously know best.

5. Yeah I'm sure all these so called "hot, intelligent girls" must be going for the high powered, multi-millionaires with the ferrari, as after all they must be really turned on by the fat, balding, wrinkled look as opposed to the young, lean, muscular look. Oh, not to mention that them "hot, intelligent girls" that you speak of, are obviously deeply in love with the multi-millionaire/high powered guy.
