Missed pills

Hi

I'm following the missed pill guidelines from the Family Planning website, rather than the instructions in my pill leaflet, as the FP website has the new updated rules.. here http://www.fpa.org.uk/guide/contracep/compill.htm#15

So... I've joined my last two packs of pills together. I took about the 5th pill of the 2nd pack (so about 26th pill in a row) about 16 hours late. The family planning website says you can miss up to two without needing to bother with extra precautions etc. i've now missed a second one, 6th pill from the end of the packet. Well i took it about 16 hours late again.

The website says you can "miss up to two pills anywhere in the pack." Does this mean two in a row, or is it ok that i've missed two in different places in the pack? The pill leaflet would advise not to have my 7day break because there are less than 7 pills left in the packet... Is it safe to have my 7 day break? According to the Family planning website, i think it would be ok to have my break... but only if you can miss two pills in different places inthe pack.

Conflicting information is really annoying, I'm thinking i should just follow the pill leaflet now, and not have a 7 day breakl and use extra precautions (i will anyway) but i really want to have a period and not join a 3rd pack!

anyone?

Surely the pill leaflet would be more accurate as the instructions are given for that particular pill... rather than generic advice given on a website?

From what I understand, if you had your seven day break you would not be protected during it and not for 7 days after you start taking them again... (as once you've missed a pill it takes 7 consecutive pill taking days for protection to kick in again) so in effect you'd be going a fortnight without protection... but if you're using extra precautions anyway then it wouldn't be too much of a big deal?

Edit: in your link it says this:

"Depending on which type of pill you take, missing more than one... may affect your contraceptive cover" therefore i suggest following the pill leaflet instructions!

well the advice regarding missed pills is the same for every combined pill in the leaflets, which are soon to be updated with the new rules from the family planning website.

i'm just worried about ovulating in my 7 day break really, whether i use extra precautions or not, surely if i ovulate there's a chance i could get pregnant even when i start taking the pills again!

does it not advise against running more than two packs together in the pill leaflet?

have you considered the patch? only change it once a week, no more missed pill scares! i've been on it for 4 months and love it. i used to have scares which freaked me and my bf out! pm me if you're interested.

perhaps you also need to consider why you've been missing pills by such a huge period of time - try setting a recurrent alarm on your phone to remind you
