Gosh, I've been falling behind! Lots of potential aviators on the pending list awaiting membership approval. Should be taken care of in the next minute or two.

Anyhow, hi jam_sister. It's great to see a PPL holder here. Care to share your training experiences and details (e.g. base airport, training costs, scariest experience even!).

Also, hi Sam! Do keep us in the loop with regards to your training as a glider pilot!

PPL Owner? Not yet, but have logged 12.5hrs as P.u/t. I am based at Gloucestershire (EGBJ) and I am training on a Piper PA28-161 Warrior.

I am very much interested in civil a/c only. My favourite a/c at the moment is the Boeing 777-300. The most exotic country I've travelled to is Lanzarote (although not really a country in itself!)

I am also a frequent flyer on VATSIM and a member of 2 Virtual Airlines: British Virtual Airways and CIX VFR Club

Have I passed?

Welcome to the club mate.
Thanks! Nice to see somewhere on TSR for me to talk to others about aviation, as there aren't many places on the internet where it is possible to do so.

So, what's people's opinions on the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner unveiled last week?

While it may be technologically groundbreaking under the paint, it still looks like pretty much every other twin engined widebody out there - not really a groundbreaking design, sort of unlike the A380 was.

Sorry for asking about these kinds of things, but...

http://hnr.cte.gov.cn/vf/TopicOther....&id=140&page=1
^I hope direct linking is allowed.

Yes, that is a fictional aicraft, but I want to know whether that aircraft is aerodynamically sound, and whether there are any unnecessary flaws on its physical designs, interior makings (avionics, radars, and engines) disregarded.

Let's see...IMO, it needs a more effective thrust vectoring, and wider wingspan, and outermost hardpoint is not for heavy loads...not sure if forward-swept canard is necessary either...also have doubts on x-tail configuration...

opinions please?

And for those interested, Singapore Airlines now have the keys to their first A380, and it enters proper service on Wednesday 25th, doing Singapore to Sydney, with the lucky winners from that eBay ticket auction.

It sure is buddy, it sure is. No offer from Aero yet? Expecting an unconditional or a conditional?

I just sat 4 of my 6 january exams(7 if you care to split algebra and calculus into 2 subjects:P)! 2 left on wednesday, one of which is the most boring subjects on earth, and you'll be made to do it too. Structure of Industry - Microeconomics in disguise! It's evil I tells ye.

And remember this one:

Robin Milne: "It's on the moooodle".

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA... You'll get it later XD.

Also:

Manosh Paul: "Dermojinamies", "analeyeseeees", "PeePee diagram", "by da by", "egjample" LMFAO!

Seriously, you will kill yourself laughing soon enough XDXDXD

Haha I can't wait!! I haven't heard anything back from either Glasgow or Strathclyde yet which sucks. With the grades I've got and what I've done in the background (Air Cadets, went down to AgustaWestland in Yeovil, etc.) I really am hoping for an unconditional.

I'm so in love with the subject I don't think any subject will be boring!! I heard from my mate who's on the same course as you (started Sept 2007) that you were making paper aeroplanes for the first few weeks?!?!?! Kick-ass!! Is it a good course so far?? Can't wait to get there!!
