Does anyone know anyone who works at a museum or know anything about being a curator or anything. I've always thought it would be a great job. What sort of qualifications would you need besides experience (if you could get it)? Would an English Literature Degree do? Or would I have to have one in history or anthropology or something instead? I'm not talking about art or science museums or at least not primarily but more like the British Museum etc. Anyone know what sort of salaries and different types of jobs are going at places like this? Any help would be appreciated.

You can do a MA in Museum studies at UCL. which a few of my friends do. Getting work for the big museums is tough so I think you need atleast a masters (from what my m8s say)
For the British museum archaeology is prob the best undergrad degree todo although History of Art is obv good. (i think Lord Renfrew is still the head of the British Museum and he is an archaeologist)
Check out the course details for Museum studies @ UCL for more info (www.ucl.ac.uk) and email museums about what degree is needed. Im pretty sure English wont be of much use tbh as you will be competing against people who have indepth knowledge of museums via their course.
Thats just from my knowledge as an Archaeology undergrad, tho I would email various museums about how to get in as a curator (obv British museum will have different requirements to V&A)
