2+2=5, do you care to try and overturn our ban, and field a team if/when we actually get to lincoln?

Lincoln is trying to field a team this year - our JCR president (who I think wants to have a go) mentioned it at our last JCR meeting.

Our JCR e-mail mentioned talking to the JCR president if we want to be considered...
I don't think I'd be nearly good enough though. And Univ hold the record for highest score - 520 points, against Reading in 1987, I think.

might be a laugh- i dunno what do you guys reckon- would it be harder to win your blades or a round of university challenge? I wanna do one of the two!
Reply 23
If you're going to be idealistic why not do both.

But, since you're at lincoln, one of those options is outlawed to you

bloody magdalen....think they're better than the rest of us

darling, eh?
Toby, do you EVER stop flirting? :p:
I read in Keele University's student newspaper that Keele was banned from University Challenge because they took advantage of the fact that they were appearing at the top of the screen and dropped items off the table that seemingly disappeared into thin air on tv.

That is hardly flirting - to tell you the truth I think elles is a lovely girl, but that does not instantly mean I am outrageously flirting with the every time we converse, otherwise you and I would be quite prolific by now...

Wadham never do good

Sadly we dont :frown:

how exactly does one get on a ut college team? how does the selection process work .

Well we had ours the other day, and there were about 25 questions on a sheet of paper which you had to fill in and hand in, then the best will be picked from them. It was all fairly informal, me and some friends did one together, we didnt do too badly actually (our friend wrote the quiz so told us what we'd got right) but i mean they were seriously hard, would never half got half of them on our own.

I think Manchester got banned for many years because once they answered "Lenin" to every question.

Was it the right answer to any of the questions ? ^o)

P.S. "Stalin"

Have Merton ever put up a team? For an supposedly 'academic' college I don't think I've ever seen them :s

It shows though...we draw out teams from, on average 400 people, and still win most years (Oxbridge that is...)

But you get to enter sooo many teams. If Oxford and Cambridge were only allowed a solitary team each, then I doubt that they would have won as many titles.

Toby, you may be at Oxford, but you pale in comparison to the power of logic! Mwahahaha....(evil laugh fades ad infinitum).

Listen Prat(ik) there are different forms of logic, now - just because you study "logic" in your ickle philosophy lectures, does not mean you have real logic - perhaps you could tell, but there was a certain comical element to what I said...Logic may be one thing...but what is life withouth laughter?

Oh, and talking of laughter...whats with the new name?

Toby, of course there are different types of logic, plus I don't take Philosophy anyway! :p: However, you're right, a life without laughter is like a like without beer and that is no life at all!

Well, not many people seemed to use their actual name as their username, so I thought I'd change mine, plus I was listening to the song at the time, so thought it would do.

Life without beer is fine - but life without alcohol is hell my friend...although a tuesday night without beer is painful (rugby reference).

And - you shouldn't have changed it....your old name had something to it that was cool, your new one sucks.

Well, my own name was my actual first name and the first letter of my second name, so it was just logical when I initially registered. Still, AI is better than bikerx23 - it sounds a little clumsy. What's the reference anyway? I'm curious.

Its hardly clumsy! (and, yes - I did know the origin of your name pratik).

the Biker-X is a duel slalom race which was the only one I won when I was a junior, and 23 is my lucky number (also the number i was racing under on the day, coincidentally). Its served me well though, as its rememberable and easily abbreviated.
