Our school only let us do 11, and personally i think that was plenty.

Anyway what do you want to do after GCSEs?

I've heard of a school that comes pretty close; they make their students to 14 GCSEs - 14 'proper' GCSEs, as in, no GNVQs/Double Awards/short courses. Crikey!

Don’t worry about it, its really quality not quantity. In our school we all do at least 10, some 11 or 12. I suppose our school sees lots of GCSE’s as a safety net, when really it's not.
Does it really matter if you don't do brilliantly in some GCSE's that might not be relevant to your prospective career? For example, if you want to be an artist but did badly in geography, it’s not going to cripple you. Keep a positive mind set

Yep, I think I've heard of that school too!

Most people at my school in my year do 10 GCSEs but some students in last year's year 11 did 11 or 12, not sure why. Some people in my year have dropped subjects (just before the exam entries!) as they found them too difficult/time consuming. Personally, I'd go for quality rather than quantity.
